It is with deep regret that I am selling some of my antique fire engines. I have come to realize I am not going to be able to restore everything I own. It is for that reason alone I am offering this 1944 International Fire engine formerly of Barneveld Fire Department, Trenton Fire District.
This fire engine has a great back story. It was originally purchased by the war board in 1944 for overseas duty. It was delivered to Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York. It was ready to go and stored with Cosmoline grease and ready to be shipped during World War 2. By the time the war board decided to ship it the war ended. I have all of the original papers showing it"s equipment, where it was going and signatures of those releasing it to be shipped. It was sold to the Barneveld Fire Department, Trenton Fire District in Rome New York. This is the department I purchased it from. They owned it since new and sold it to me in the 1980"s.
It ran well and had a complete valve job with new valves and valve seats. It pumped well and never had any issues. I have not started it in over 2 years. Hence the reason for selling it. No time. It is an easy restoration and has NO chrome on it due to the 1944 build year. The size of this truck will make it easy to fit in a small garage.
I could write a long list concerning this vehicle and I am sure I would miss a question. Therefore, PLEASE ask any and all questions and I will try to respond quickly. I have a business and get busy sometimes so please do not take it personally. I will respond ASAP.
I can not pay for transportation. However, I will gladly help arrange it and be there to see it is properly taken care of on it"s way to a new home. I have moved many vehicles and have a few suggestions when it gets to that point.
This is a rare truck being that it is a 1944 and few trucks were built and few survived during this time period.
I sincerely hope it goes to a good home where it will be loved.
Please contact me with any questions.
