1960 Mack Heavy Rescue Truck (West Hempstead 762)
This is in fact the sought after and very rare West Hempstead Rescue Truck 762 built by Mack in 1960. It is a Mack C85-F Chassis with a Gerstenslager body ( Serial Number C85-F1170). Those who know this truck are aware that there were only two ever built.
Yes this is the famous truck they make models of. . and yes this is the real thing. ...
It has not been restored, all original with normal aging... see pictures. It is currently being housed in Andy Leider"s warehouse in Middletown New York.
I was left the truck by a dear friend and avid Mack fire truck collector who passed away a few years ago. I haven"t been able to get around to restoring her to her original glory and bringing her back to Long Island. As many of you know this is a very expensive hobby. .
I have registered and insured the truck in New York State, I have all original paperwork including the original bill of sale from the West Hempstead Fire District.
As far as I can tell she"ll need new batteries, fresh fuel and a new starter motor and she will fire right up.
Please no games, I am well versed in all things Mack and things concerning antique fire apparatus. I am not in a rush to sell, as far as I"m concerned this truck is priceless. . Serious Offers Only, no low balling..
