Unfortunately, I have to re-list the vehicle since it was sold at the end of January 2019 and never picked up due to unknown reasons.
Up for bid is a very rare 1961 F250 4X4, with a service bed. A former fire/rescue vehicle, originally purchased by the Half Moon Bay Fire dept, located approximately 20 miles south on the coast line. It was ordered and built at the Milpitas Ford plant in July 1961. Only 380 of the cab, chassis and cowl were made in 4X4. The previous owner said he used the vehicle on his property in the hills above Santa Cruz, Ca. and the 4X4 and winch were in working order. I personally have not tried either one. The body appears to be original paint and has a lot of surface rust under the body but no rot from what I can tell. The cab, floors, service bed, doors and firewall are rust free and solid. There is a small amount of rust/rot on the outer lip of the hood but did not go thru the second layer of metal. All the glass appears to be original in nice shape. Some of the gauges work and some don"t. The vehicle runs well, shifts fine and has decent brakes and has only been yard driven though many times to keep the fluids flowing at the warehouse where it is stored. PLEASE NOTE: The vehicle is not roadworthy due to registration not current, but a clear title and the tires are literally shot. I have another decent set to go with the truck if sold. The battery is a heavy-duty industrial type and about 10 months old. The front seat appears to have been re-upholstered sometime back using possibly original material.
I have some vintage period correct emergency equipment that will also go with the vehicle as well as the original radio control-head found in one of the service bays. I also have a 4-bulb Deitz red rotator light for sale for an additional reasonable price if interested.
This is a very unique, different and cool old rig that needs TLC, but finding one in running and not all rotted out condition is hard to come by. I have placed a reasonable reserve price on the vehicle so bid with confidence. The vehicle is also for sale locally and will end the auction if sold.
