Up for auction is a one owner 1974 Maxim Tanker fire truck, I bought this truck from the original owner ( a small town here in Vt) The truck was in a fire station that burned (Flames did not reach this truck but it had heat and smoke damage) I drove the truck out of the burnt station and home the day I bought it, I then replaced both windshields and back window because of smoke damage as well as the mirrors and some lights that were damaged. I have owned the truck since October of 2015 and have driven it some each summer just because it is such a neat truck to drive and stored it in the winters, when I parked it last fall the brakes worked fine but when I got it out this past week for the first time this year the brakes do not work (NO BRAKES) This truck has a polly water tank that was installed when the fire dept had the truck refurbished years ago from a pumper / engine to a tanker. I have the original Vt title for the truck from 1974 when they bought it new. The truck is powered by 6-71 Detroit diesel engine and a 5 speed manual transmission with juice brakes that as stated earlier Do NOT WORK at this time (Truck will need to be towed or trailered because of the brake issue) Rear tires are like new and fronts are about 50% I would say, This truck can sit all winter and always starts right up without a problem, The cab corner are starting to rust and will need some attention (see photos) but the rest of the truck appears to be solid. This would be a great truck to restore or a nice water truck for a construction company, race track, ranch or anywhere that you need to move water, there is no pump on the truck so you would need a portable pump to fill it.
