We are the second owner of this 1988 E-One (they were Emergency One back then) Cyclone pumper engine. We purchased her directly from the original owning fire department out in North Carolina, via eBay back in March 2010, and we"ve been looking after her since. That said, our needs are shifting -- bigger booster tanks are proving essential here in drought-plagued California -- and the boss is giving the nod to try and find this old gal a new home so we can become second owner to a rig with a bigger belly.

We believe it"s a 40 gallon fuel tank... it"s never taken more than that; we"ve tracked an average fuel efficiency of 7.6 MPG over the course of our ownershipAluminum hose bed cover with a fill door above the fill tower; hose bed has an aluminum deck; flaps over the aluminum crosslay and rear flaps are homemade but functionalHale E-1 6140 pump, 1500 GPM capacity, model QSMG-150-2500 gallon tank, no obvious leaks (aside from those at the pump area, noted below) NFPA chevron added (using SceneDots; not our now go-to DiamonDiamonds, but do the job), along with 6-inch white reflective striping around the perimeterLighting was upgraded in 2010 to a Code 3 MX7000 69-inch light bar; six rotators, intersection sweeps, and rear beacons added. All lighting is LED without red lenses (nice and street legal). David Clark they aint, but beats screaming at one another over the motorWheelbase is 179 inches, overall length 29 feet, 7 inches, overall width 8 foot 1 inch (plus mirrors), overall height 9 foot 2 inches, empty weight 21,000, as equipped with water, roughly 31,500 pounds.She remains a strong, go anywhere rig -- starting from its road trip from North Carolina to sunny California in 2010The nose of the cab was repainted in 2010 (the former had painted-on graphics and lettering).Last oil change: May 2016, 1,600 miles agoNew front passenger tire: Sept 2016, 800 miles ago, new driver front 5/2013 (~12k miles ago); both rear passenger tires 4/2010 (~28k miles ago)Batteries: both replaced in the last 60 days, new cable leads installed 1/25/2017, and as that caused the alternator to over-work, that was also replaced yesterday with another 160amp alternatorNew air compressor 9/2011Wired for an EP911 arrow stick, but it was stolen and not replaced (wires were cut right at the rear of the rig, so it"s a simple splice-in)The vehicle is currently registered (in California, obviously) through April (it is not exempt as we"re not a public or actual fire department), though the personalized plates will not remain with the rig. As age goes, it"s eligible for historic vehicle designation if your use and will is so inclined (29 years old, surpassing California"s 25 year rule).She shows all the usual wear and tear of 22 years in-service and another seven with us.The typical photo views are included, additional photos are available and/or can be snapped live.
We continue to run and pump this rig once or twice a week, so mileage may vary based on date of sale.
The Known Issues Other than the obvious dents and dings and some tears/tape-over of seat vinyl, and some well-worn, showing foam on the driver seat -- this is a 28 year old rig who was taken care of, but also used as designed -- the list includes...As she came to us, there is an "oil blow by" issue; aside from gulping oil faster than our other Detroit motors, it"s not proven an issue... but when you first step on the gas right out of the gate, there"s a plume of black smoke before clearing outThere"s a faint air hiss sound when the brakes are released, though the shop claims not to be able to find the leak (release valve/components would be next up to replace), that said, there"s no noticable drop in air pressure and the compressor does not appear to be running to compensate any more than usualThe rear driver window is not rolling up; we suspect the lifter has slipped out of whack, but haven"t had a chance yet to tinker with itThere is a leak from the pump plumbing that can be quite persistent during or immediately after pumping; also on the repair list but not yet tended toThe front passenger simulator is missing as shown in the photos; we"ve got what"s left of her, but it won"t stay on... haven"t chased down if Real Wheels warranties bumps into curbs, but I doubt it.The rear passenger aluminum framing is bent around the wheels (on the side nearest the front end), having bumped something while parking (what was bumped, I never got a straight answer, but something was bumped). No known collision or other issues to my knowledge -- definitely none while in our use and care nor any disclosed by the previous FD upon sale/inquiry back in 2010. The auction is for the rig itself; ladders, most hose, all loose equipment, elbows and valves are not included. (Spanner wrench brackets will remain unless you request they be removed.) All discharges and intakes will retain a suitable cap/plug, including all three large diameter intakes.
This is an as-is, where-is sale, with the vehicle located in the Livermore valley (45 miles east of San Francisco).
