1989 Athey Mobil Sweeper
This unit is rough looking but has a lot of life left in it. It will need a little work to get it into shape.
FIrst the engine is GM 8.2L DIesel engine and works perfectly with no issues even on a cold winter day it fires immediately. This is a single engine unit, so there is not a separate engine for operating the sweeper. This is a brush only unit. It is used for highway and heavy gravel operations. It has one main brush at the back that brushes debris onto an elevator that leads to the holding. This brush was just replaced in the fall and works . It has a gutter broom on both sides of the truck that work . It has an operational water system to keep dust down. The hopper that holds the debris is rusted pretty badly. It will still hold materials but needs to be taken off and rebuilt to eliminate holes and rust. That would be the main issue with the unit. Also the hydraulic pistons for opening and shutting the dump door are leaking badly and need new gaskets or just be replaced. The hinges for the door are bent and damaged. All in all this is a powerful unit that needs someone who can do some simple handyman work and maybe give it a better paint job. There may be other items that are damaged or missing that have not come to my attention and thus may not be covered. I would recommend any interested party make arrangements to come and examine the truck in person before bidding. I Have added a Youtube video below of the trucks startup and walk around.
