I will be out from 9/10/2017 thru 9/20/2017. I have left the title with my dad and individuals can still drive the truck and should be able to transfer it. It would be easier to wait for me to get back. Thanks, John Morris
I have a 1997 Ford F800 truck that I purchased with a salvage title and put countless hours( over 300) into rebuilding this truck into a hauler for my horse trailer. If you look at the pictures, there is one where the truck is still a 2 door with a 4 door cab sitting on the back of the frame. That is what the truck looked like at the time I bought it. I lost the pictures of the huge bucket truck body that was on the truck. The truck was laid on its right side and the bucket truck bed took the impact and the truck cab and frame were fine. The truck had 102,000 miles on it and a Cummins 8.3 engine with a mechanical P7100 pump that runs excellent. It was equipped for offroad with 6:14 gears and springs so I shortended the frame length and changed the axle to a 2007 model Peterbilt 387 air-ride rearend with 3:36 gears that had been gone through and had new brakes. The cab had some damage above the right door so I found a donor cab and cut the two to mate and joined the two cabs to build it into a crew cab. I looked at how the air ride under the cab of the Peterbilt worked and I built the same airbag setup and put it under the rearend of the cab. So now the rear axle and the rear of the cab ride on air. Then I built the hauler bed, the 90 gallon fuel tank on the driver side, the generator compartment on the right side (never put a generator in there, no generator included), the side fairings, and the tilting cow killer on the frontend. The toolboxes under the bed are huge. I built them as big as I could make them. The doors on alot of these beds are too small so I built mine large. I then started driving the truck. The Allison 3560P transmission had trouble on hills because of the huge change I made in the gear ration so I started looking for a replacement. I decided on a Eaton Fuller 9513 transmission. I didn"t have a core to use and the price was staggering for these, so I bought two cores, the overhaul manuals off of Ebay, and I overhauled the transmission and I have enjoyed it ever since. I float between the gears on this truck and it makes hills very easy with this setup. The extra transmission (in pieces) and the manuals will come with it. I have only had one issue with this truck and that was the Carter style of mechanical lift pump. They are made in China and would not last but about 5,000 miles and then the checkvalve would leak and allow the fuel to run back to the tank. For my third trip to Montana I installed an AirDog electric pump without the expensive built in filters. For filters, ahead of the pump I have a 10 micron and a 2 micron filter assembly that has the large transfer pump style of filters only caust about $10 dollars apiece and can be bought at any farm store. I put an adjustable Tork Tek fuel valve on the back of the pump and installed a fuel guage. No more problems with lift pumps. When I got out there I had some off time so I took the truck and had the fuel turned up some from the original 210 horses to about 260 because the truck was requiring too many shifts to be able to use the aftermarket cruise control setup that I had put on it at the beginning. That made all the difference in the world. In stock form it made 685 ft pnds of torque. It make alot more now. Seven weeks ago, I put on a guage pod on the driver pillar (had to modify a pod to fit, they dont make one for a truck this size, despite its age, it has a dash of an 80-86 style of truck and headliner trim of a late 90"s from the factory.) It now has a fuel pressure guage, a turbo boost guage, and a Exhaust gas temperature guage. It has a Prodigy P3 brake controller that is awesome. This truck has airbrakes and will stop a trailer without brakes but I use the controller just the same. It is considered an RV use vehicle and I do not stop at weigh stations. The truck has very nice Dunlop rubber on the rear with excellent tread. The front are a little older than I like but have alot of tread. If Buy it now is used, I will put on two new steer tires. The wheels were polished on a machine when I mounted them on the rims but could use a good polishing again. I installed mercury filled balance rings in behind each of the wheels to take care of tire balance and they work. The original front seat was moved to the back and two seats from a Ford Explorer were put in the front. Driver side has electric controls. Was gonna have all the seats recovered to match but I didn"t get to it. The headliner was professionally redone. The floor was sandblasted, self etching primer applied, and then Raptor coated. This stuff is awesome. When the truck was being built, I used it to help a friend in winter and it got a light exposure to road treatment and I had an acid I put on it to stop the salt effect and pressure washed it off. It was never intended to be left rusty. Twice since then I have torn the truck apart to clean it up and something happens that keeps me from getting it sandblasted and painted. There are some pictures where the truck doesnt have the surface rust on it. The truck has surface rust on the bed and all of my metal work that will come off with sandblasting. The truck turns heads and gets attention wherever it goes. If it is ever painted, I don"t think anyone will notice it. I have the paint and primer that was never mixed and and never shaken that will go with it. The color is Beautiful Black that is on the new Dodge trucks. Anyone interested in this truck is welcome to come and look at it. I am only selling it because I am moving to the Rocky Mountains and this truck will be useless for much of the year. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I will entertain delivering this truck out west, especially to Colorado. Otherwise, local pickup is expected. Thanks, John Morris, Arlington, Ky
