As the pictures and video illustrate, this ambulance has all the hallmarks of a lightly used and well maintained unit! Whether judging by its aesthetic condition or its performance, this ambulance is genuinely above par!
An excellent feature on this ambulance is the Duramax turbo diesel engine! These engines have been proven to be long lasting powerhouses! The engine cranks right up, it idles very smoothly, and delivers abundant power to get this ambulance up to highway speeds quickly! All the gears on the automatic overdrive transmission are engaging properly, pulling strong, and shifting smoothly. The ambulance accelerates evenly, it rides straight, the suspension feels very snug, the braking is even, and the interior is very quiet. The cab on this ambulance illustrates the exceptional condition of this unit. All the original paint is very shiny, the bodylines are smooth and straight, and there is no rust damage. The cab doors open and close effortlessly, there are no dents or creases on the body, and the windshield is flawless. The interior is in commendable condition; the bucket seats have no tears, the easy-to-clean floor vinyl has no tears, and the dashboard and moldings are like new. Furthermore, the interior has a pleasant factory smell to it. The factory options, such as AC, wiper delay, stereo, etc are working fine, and all the emergency equipment controls are fully operational.
The body on this ambulance is also exceptional. To begin with, this ambulance features an AEV (American Emergency Vehicles) Type III body. AEV is known for building exceptional ambulance bodies, with stronger frames, quieter interiors, abundant features, solid electronics, and superior passenger safety designs! True to this reputation, this ambulance body is in exceptional condition! Starting with the condition of the body, this ambulance is in virtually new condition. There are no tears on any of the seating areas or padding, no gashes on the flooring, and all the paneling looks like new. All the interior cabinets, trays, sliders, and compartments close effortlessly. Furthermore, all the exterior cabinet doors are very easy to open, close snugly, and the open compartment sensors are functional.
The interior lighting is functioning properly. The left floodlights are bright, and the rear and right flood lighting engages automatically or by switch. The rear AC blows cold, the rear heater quickly warms up the action area, and the dual intake exhaust fan quickly clears the air. Needless to say, all the exterior emergency lighting is also in top working order. Take a look at the video to see the lighting and features shown in action!
As can be expected on a preowned ambulance, there are some flaws and details present. Known details are: minor scratches on the paint, a paint scratch on the left rear door, a scratch on the front bumper black plastic, the inverter is missing, the suction container is missing, and the sharps disposal cabinet lid is missing (a new one has been ordered). Most of these details are evident on the pictures and video. Details aside, this is a genuinely outstanding ambulance that has impressed us with its condition and performance... we would not hesitate to drive this ambulance cross-country at a moment"s notice!
