Here is a rare opportunity to own a 1988 R model Mack truck with extremely low mileage. Manufactured 12/1988, with only 26,276 original and documented miles, this is as close as you can get to driving one off the dealers lot! These R models were the epitome of heavy duty simple trucks. Powered by the Mack engine these were the last of the simplest to repair and maintain and most reliable, fuel efficient trucks made. The GVW is 65,220#. Recognizable phrases in our language today are “Mack, the Greatest Name in Trucks” and “Built like a Mack Truck” or even “I feel like I have been run over by a Mack truck”. This town maintained emergency vehicle received the best of care and maintenance where price was no object, it had to be ready to go to work at all times and under all circumstances. To top it off, it was always stored inside a heated garage so there is no corrosion, again as close to new as you can get.
This immaculate truck is properly spec’d out for over-the-road heavy duty applications (and is Mack from bumper to bumper, not a conglomeration of engine, transmission, differentials, axles frame and cab made by whoever and assembled together hoping they will get along with each other for a million miles). It has the 350 HP Mack engine married to a 9 speed (Mack Maxi Torque T-2090, 9 speed ) transmission with a 20,000 lb front axle and 44,000 lb rears. Truck has 1873 engine hours. The wheel base from front axle to center of trunnion is 247”, the frame length behind the cab is 20’. Rear of cab to trunnion center is 168”.
No rust, air ride seat, tires approximately 60%, some additional equipment like reverse and R/S lane change camera, and electric heated mirrors. LED flood lights, main pump recently rebuilt and certified; current Federal Annual inspection on truck. 3500 gallon Poly water tank. All original Mack owner’s manuals included. It also has some valuable fire department equipment like hydraulic ladder elevators, hydraulic water tank elevator, PTO with pump, tanks, LED lights in aluminum compartments.
When will be the next time the opportunity will arise to own such a low mileage, well maintained and desirable truck???
Ask questions. It can be seen by appointment. Capable of driving anywhere, and I will not end the auction early.
Would make a great tri-axle dump truck or roll off truck, hook lift, or just a great fire truck.
Thanks for looking and good luck!
