I am now selling this 1955 IHC model R-185, American Fire Apparatus 750gpm engine from Coxsackie NY (prison fire brigade, we believe), originally delivered to Napanoch NY. It"s located now in Crown Point, NY about 2 hours north of Albany. It was a good running truck until the engine seized about two years ago. It got a dose of gas that was more water than gas, and by the time I realized why the truck wouldn"t start the engine was stuck. I have tried to pop it loose and no luck, so currently the engine"s internals are filled with ATF/Penetrating Oil mix to prevent further damage (and hopefully loosen it over time) until someone can get the time to open the engine up. I gave up on trying to find the time to do it, so I replaced the truck and am hoping to find someone to devote the time to her. It has a lot of potential for restoration, it"s pretty solid and complete, there is some rust to be dealt with in the usual spots where R-model IHCs rust in the fenders, the rest of the cab is solid, doors close nice, the compartments are solid, needs some surface rust and other minor bodywork handled, and someday a new paint job. The only other mechanical issue it had prior to the engine seizing was a bad brake line in the rear. Drove nicely on hills and highways, but it has been sitting so I can"t promise anything. All lights and siren worked well at last check. I"d really like to see it go to someone who will restore it and not part it out, if possible. Oh, it also includes a few restoration parts I had gathered like the discharge handle cluster you can see sitting in the cab. Sold as-is so please ask any questions before bidding.
