1.5 years ago, I started with a 1957 Ford F600, American Fire Apparatus fire engine with 7,600 total original miles on it. It was completely equipped and ran well. It was simply 58 years old. I finished it July and here’s some of what I did to it:
Every visible item on truck was either powdercoated, painted, polished, or reupholstered,..show-ready inside and out. Details are outstanding!
Complete, exterior enamel paint job
Red, Line-X interior
Silver Line-X diamond plate decking and rear hose compartment
Sanded and refinished (Spar varnish) original oak decking, ladders and pike pole
Chrome removed from fittings, gauges, levers and placards with base brass/bronze clearcoated
Extensive powercoating: dash bezel, front bumper, hose and ladder brackets, ladder hardware, front hooks, transmission tunnel cover and more
Two-tone, red and silver reupholstered seat with matching silver headliner - beautiful!
Wheels and many items painted
Newly applied 24 carat turned gold leaf striping bracketed in black. Gold striping is vinyl-clad
Many items purchased to complete truck and accessories including: 14 lenses, 13 bulbs, 2 nozzles, 1 ax (1 was original), 2 rear beacons, and hundreds of cadmium plated grade 5 bolts/washers/nuts
The underside of the hood is rubberized and the hinges are painted. However, the engine compartment is original and unrestored. The condition of the pumps and valves are undetermined. I installed a new brake booster and master cylinder so brakes are fully operational. Truck runs great!
