BORE OR REPAIR YOUR OWN WELL OR START A PROFITABLE BUSINESS WITH THIS 1958 STARDRILL CABLE TOOL DRILLING RIG MOUNTED ON A 1972 F-500 FORD PICKUP.
The truck is powered by the original industrial straight 6 gas engine with an oil bath air cleaner. The total mileage is 9,879 although the title says 00000 miles (due to age and type of vehicle). The engine starts and runs well. The 7.50x20 tires all hold air, and would probably be OK for a hundred miles maybe, but are FAIR TO POOR due to age. The master cylinder does seem to lose brake fluid over time, but when fluid is added a solid pedal is obtained and I had no problem stopping it when I drove it. I see no visible leakage at the brakes. Has tow bar provisions on the front bumper. The rig is 11 feet high when it transport position. So less than 14 feet overall height when on a lowboy trailer. All the glass is in good to excellent condition (recent new front windshield). Both the truck and rig are basically rust free, except for some surface rust where the paint has worn away. I believe this vehicle has been in Arizona most if not all of its life.
The 1958 Stardrill rig was built by the Keystone Company in Beaver Falls PA. This Stardrill model is similar to a Bucyrus Erie model 20W. Ready to drill. Includes everything needed and more to bore a six inch diameter well. The previous owner of the rig who restored most everything mechanically, said parts are still available for the rig and the International deck engine.
IT IS SET UP WITH 500 FEET OF 5/8 DRILL LINE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. 500 FEET SAND LINE ALSO EXCELLENT. 100 FOOT CASING LINE. TWO 16" BAILERS, TWO 14 FOOT 7 INCH LONG STEMS, SUBS, JAR, FOUR 6 CARBIDE BUTTON BITS, 4 GUY LINES, 4 GROUND STAKES, $700 CABLE CUTTER, AND MANY MANY OTHER USEFUL TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES.
12,000 GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT.
THE DECK ENGINE WAS RECENTLY REBUILT. IT IS A 4 CYL INTERNATIONAL GAS ENGINE. IT STARTS AND RUNS GREAT. USES VERY LITTLE GAS. RUNS ALL DAY ON 5 GALLONS. THE RIG GEARS, CLUTCHES AND BRAKES ARE ALL IN GOOD CONDITION.
RIG IS CURRENTLY SET UP ON RANCH NORTH OF FLORENCE ARIZONA, AND IS BEING SOLD BY THE CURRENT OWNER, WHO PURCHASED IT TO DRILL HIS OWN WELL, BUT HAS SINCE DECIDED TO CONTINUE HAULING FROM A MUNICIPAL PUBLIC WELL WHERE THE WATER HAS BEEN TREATED TO REDUCE ARSENIC, AND OTHER NATURAL CONTAMINANTS PRESENT IN THE WATER IN THIS AREA. ONLY NEEDING 500 GALLONS A WEEK, SO WELL DRILLING COSTS OF 500-600 FEET + SOLAR PUMP COSTS + WATER TREATMENT + SYSTEM MAINTENANCE COSTS - DID NOT MAKE FINANCIAL SENSE, AS GOOD WATER AVAILABLE NEARBY @ $1.25 FOR 500 GALLONS FROM PUBLIC MUNICIPAL SOURCE, CLEANED UP TO EPA SPECS AND NOT HAVING TO PUMP OR MAINTAIN A DEEP WELL SYSTEM.
NOTE: The tools and accessories are very heavy and cannot be transported on the drill truck itself. A separate flatbed or wagon trailer is needed to transport these items. One can be supplied by seller for an additional $500, if needed. Seller does have a dual axle wagon style trailer with 14.5 mobile home tires and axles, that would make a suitable trailer for MOVING the tools to their new owner on a transport trailer, as the tools can be balanced over the dual axles and winched on the transport trailer. This 11" long wagon trailer has no title but has excellent tires, and is suitable for moving the accessories. At only 11" long it is not suitable for towing behind a vehicle for any distance while loaded with all the tools. A suitable 16" trailer flatbed can be purchased locally on Craigslist with a clear title for around $1000, and the seller is willing to help a successful buyer with that if a good trailer is needed for highway towing.
If desired, the seller can provide a few hours of instruction regarding the details of set-up, take down, and operation of the rig. Well drilling is hard work. The tools are heavy.
