1959 Ford C850 Fire Truck Pumper American Fire Apparatus with 78XX Miles!
Ford 401 Gas engine, Manual transmission
Barton 750 GPM Pump
Pre-dated ladder rack possible from the 30’s era
Originally Served in Ludington, Michigan this engines body is in great original shape for almost 60 years old. I have all the original paperwork from when the truck was ordered until it was sold from the fire department.
I have only owned for about six months but have not had time to give it the attention it deserves. I will be a descriptive as I can of what I know of machine.
Truck sat for about 5 years before I purchased. Truck will start up on warmer days and engine sounds great. Does probably need the carb rebuilt. Will need exhaust/ Muffler replaced as pretty loud. The throttle cable is frozen. Hydraulic brake pedal goes to the floor. Clutch pedal was hard. I rebuilt slave cylinder which I believe was the issue but have not reinstalled back in truck. Tires are not great.
I have not had time to look into most of these issues but seem to be miner considering it was on the road in the last decade. With the body in great condition this would make a great hobby project for collection or parades. I am asking what I have into it. Would love to this saved and not scrapped or parted out.
