Up for auction is a 1964 B-model Mack tandem axle tractor with a 711 thermodyne and 4x5 quadraplex transmission. Everything works as it should and the truck drives nicely down the road. It"s rather short for a tandem tractor giving it a tighter turning radius then most B-models. The 711 starts instantly cold or hot. No abnormal noises or smoking at any time. I find that both 711 trucks I have pull far better than my 673 turbo. Brakes work well and have some modern chambers on them. The air system comes right up and holds air well. Wipers, signals, ect. all work. The paint is very recent but not show quality, glass is all good. I think the only body work on the whole truck is in the inside bottom of the drivers door and it is bad.(pictured). I probably have a solid door somewhere that I would be willing to sell. I also know where you can get lots more. And honestly the one on it could be fixed without much trouble. some of the chrome isn"t the best where it is made of pot metal and up on top of the radiator shell. Front tires are brand new, and although the rear tires are very cool and hold air, they should be replaced for continuous highway use. Air slider fifth wheel works great and really makes the truck useable. You can always slide it back and put an adapter in it for a gooseneck. Everything electrical seems to work but the wiring is rather old. It also has a rare spare headlight case under the seat and old school fire extinguisher. I remember this particular B-model from when I was a kid and it has been a local truck all it"s life and seen occasional use. I tried to buy it for years but the owner wouldn"t sell. One day he passed away and I didn"t know about it. The truck sold at auction, I then bought it in the condition you see it now from somebody that bought it at the auction. I can probably put you in touch with the original family that had the truck. I bought it as a spare tractor and one to use in tight places but now I would just like to sell it to fund another project. Feel free to set something up to come look at the truck. It sells as is where is. Please don"t bid if you have to ask mom, your wife/husband or the bank for money first. I can deliver the truck for a fee. Ask me for a quote first and I don"t have the time or desire to go more than about 800 miles away right now. Thanks for looking and good luck!
