1974 Peterbilt Model 359-A Short Hood
Up for sale is a ’74 359-A (A is for aluminum frame). 400hp Big Cam Series II Cummins (dated 1984), Jake Brake, 13 speed Eaton Fuller transmission, Reyco spring suspension, 11,000lb steer axle, 34,000lb rears with locking diff, 4:11 ratio, 220 in factory wheelbase, dual breathers, air slide fifth wheel, wet kit, low boy ramps, all aluminum wheels, 11R 22.5 tires, Pro-Tech tool step tool box, aluminum headache rack, dual air horns, independent air wipers, dual speed fan for heater, CB, etc.

Here is what I do know about the truck; It is a very healthy running rig that came from a construction company out in Arizona. The truck runs down the highway great at 75 mph. It has straight pipes that are loud and shifts through all the gears smoothly. The truck starts right up, very minimal blow by. The tires are pretty good with some chew marks from rocks. The motor leaks no oil but it is wet under the PTO (but does not leak anything on the ground). The heater works great but the A/C does not. All the components are intact for the A/C. The speedometer will turn miles but the needle does not work (the cable is pretty much stripped going into the back of it). There is speakers but no radio, the CB is not hooked up. We put a new sending unit in the fuel tank but the gauge does not read accurate all the time b/c of a grounding issue in the gauge. The paint on the truck has clear that is peeling and plenty of rock chips here and there.
Overall this would be an excellent truck to move equipment, haul rock, or any other work you need done. It is solid and was put together right. No rust or frame cracks.
