1978 Ford F600 medium duty truck with factory four wheel drive, dumping bed, 10" Fischer plow. Runs and drives okay but read further for full disclosure of known issues. The main fuel tank has a leak where the step plate is and so it accumulated water over the winter. It is bypassed to a temporary tank in order to operate the truck. The axillary tank came without a cap so it is dirty and not an option.
Engine - originally a 370 cu. inch, replaced with a new Ford industrial FT series 391 which runs great, no smoke. Engine was supposedly replaced 20K miles ago but no paperwork available. I"d say the 391 is strong and in great shape. The 4 bbl Holley carburetor was recently rebuilt.
Transmission - It has a Clarke 5 speed manual transmission which has no apparent problems. Because it is 4x4 does not have a splitter rear axle. Transfer case shows new gasket material as if it has recently been rebuilt.
Axles and Rearend - built at the factory with the bullet proof Rockwell International 2 1/2 ton axles, same as the military uses for the M35 6x6 deuce and a half cargo trucks. The tag on the rear axle reads model C3121 E83. It is NOT all time 4wd, it has selectable Selectro hubs on the front wheels.
Interior - the cab is rough on the inside. Bench seat in poor condition, there are rust holes in the floor near the door on both sides. The wiring is a mess. Drivers door handles (inside and outside) are missing.
Fischer 10" plow operates properly up/down and side to side. However, it is slow and I"d say the pump which operates off the engine needs to be rebuilt. The cylinders, lines and manifold are all in good shape.
Dump bed - the dump flatbed operates fine. It is a Knaphoist model KH-1412. It operates off PTO power. Manual is included and appears to be rated at 7.9 to 10.3 tons.
Winch - large PTO driven winch mounted on rear. It has a full roll of wire rope, completely rusted. We have not every tried to use the winch because of this condition and possible damage. It will not be tried during vehicle previews either.
