1982 International Diesel 30" Crane Boom Under CDL w/ Winch
A mechanic drove this back from where I got it, about 25 miles, almost all highway, no problems. However, he said the back brakes need work. He looked and said there"s a little shoe left, so maybe they could be adjusted and last a while longer before having to be replaced?
It smokes a little but not noticeable on the highway.
The title shows "exceeds mechanical limits, I think referring to the mileage, but I don"t know about that. There"s only 1,000 more miles on it than when the previous owner bought it in 2000, and it fires right up.
He said there was a little shimmy coming from the back. I was following him but didn"t notice anything.
The emergency brake makes a noise while driving because a spring on it is broke, should be an easy fix I imagine.
It wouldn"t go faster than 45 unless going downhill, not a motor problem, it must be set up that way the mechanic said.
He also said that it was tough to shift. I asked if that meant that there was transmission or clutch trouble, he said the clutch seemed to engage/disengage fine, that again, it may just be how the truck is.
There is a small leak under the body, (engine oil? I"m not sure) and on the driver"s side outrigger.
The headlights, front passenger side turn signal, and rear driver"s side turn signal doesn"t work.
The driver"s door doesn"t latch.
The wipers work, I didn"t think to try the horn.
The truck had sat for a while recently as the owner hadn"t been doing the work he was when he got the truck.
As you can see, it looks pretty good from 20 feet away, really, close as well, just that it looks like it was brush or roll painted without prepping the body and the paint doesn"t have a real smoothness to it like factory. I was told it was painted with an airless sprayer,?
I"ve not yet tried operating the boom, I saw it lowered back into its spot, it seemed like it had a little play, I don"t know, I wasn"t operating it.
There is a huge winch on the back, I"ve not tried operating it either.
When I started it up this morning before bringing it back here, it started immediately.
The toolboxes are solid.
So, it"s an older truck, not a creampuff, but pending the results of the boom/winch operation, could get you going on maybe setting trusses or blocking down some trees, pulling downed trees out of low spots, or whatever else you have in mind.
I have this as a 7 day listing as I don"t want to pay the listing fee for a longer duration, so make a move, don"t just add it to your watch list.
Cash payment upon pick up (the listing tool made me choose to accept a deposit through Paypal, I want the rest of the payment as cash during pick up, ebay gets enough of my $, Paypal doesn"t need more of it on top of their cut of the $200), pick up within 5 days of sale.
