Our 1983 Pierce Dash starts and runs without issue; I"ve simply ended up with more big red toys than I can reasonably drive on a regular basis.
This small footprint engine is just 25-feet from front of the Federal Q siren to the rear bumper.
Detroit Diesel DDEC 6V92TA 330 under the tilt cab hood, Allison HT-740D transmission; Pierce build # E2002 (ex-Kalamazoo Township, Michigan engine as 812 and 813). Came to us as the third owner following its run in public service ending around 2010 or so, and we"ve been looking after her since the fall of 2012.
Last serviced about a year ago; significant plumbing leaks and elbows were all welded/corrected by the local fire apparatus service center. They also pump tested it (passed, failed the vacuum test), installed a FRC TankVision 200 LED water level display, and noted there is some rot at the base, and top lid of the fill tower in the tank, and the tank does have some leaks. (Won"t lose all the water in an hour, but won"t be full at the end of the week, either.) Does pump without issue and when we are running it, we"re running the rig to pump. Also had the air compressor replaced spring 2018 and assorted other work to keep it happy and running right.
Good paint and decals; we"ll appropriately remove our name, but other markings can remain upon request. All lighting is street-legal clear to the front, including the 69-inch Code 3 MX7000 light bar and Whelen 900 LED lights. Lower zone lighting is all LED, upper is halogan (lightbar as noted, and Code 3 550 beacons to the rear upper). Two quartz halogen scene lights are installed, but no generator is onboard to power them; toyed with an inverter but never got it installed. (LED headlights are in the cab but not yet installed; they"ll go with the rig.)
All 4-inch used supply hose and TFT intake ball valve are included. Ladders, loose tools, and other hose, elbows are not. (All discharges and inlets will be capped; it"s a pet peeve of mine when that level of strip-down takes place.) Hose bed tarp is present and included; replaced new in 2013 from Husky Portable Containers (Oklahoma).
No concerns with driving it anywhere on the tires with good treat and decorated with Real Wheels stainless steel simulators. We drove it home from Wisconcin back in 2012, and its only glitches were the temp sensor died (still dead, but the "idiot light" red does glow if/when it ever does get hot), and a radiator repair that was completed at a shop in Nevada along the way. All repairs have been done by state-licensed shops.
Historic plate eligible in California; if you keep it in the Golden State, it does have a CARB restriction on annual mileage, but ONLY because we didn"t re-plate it as historic; that would void the restriction. Tags are valid through September 2020 if you plan to drive it out of here.
Non-refundable $500 deposit due within 48 hours; balance due within 7 days. Can store for a reasonable time; I pre-pay storage for the entire month, so the month of sale is on my dime - future months are on yours. May be able to help with delivery within a reasonable distance from the San Francisco Bay Area.
More photos, or go-take-these photo requests are both available; you"re welcome to come for a look-see/inspection as well.
