Beautiful / Powerful Custom Fire Truck FULLY Equipped!
The engine was purchased new as a custom truck in 1984. Custom meaning it"s basically handbuilt, unlike those international type cabs you see out there. New, it was $250k. That was only 38k miles ago. It has 1250 gallons per minute pump and a 500 hp Detroit Diesel engine and an Allison automatic trans. Air brakes , power steering.
It has brand new all season tires all around that cost $6k!
It hold 1000 gallons of water and has an additional foam tank which holds approx 30 gallons if I recall. It has Alcoa alum when and a built in diesel generator which feeds off the main fuel system. It has an electric real w approx 100 ft w a junction box. It"s pretty powerful and can be used during storms to power things. It has misc equipment on it such as air packs , radios , fittings , hose etc. it has a booster line located in one of the top cabinets for brush fires and clean ups. it served 20 years in one community and then went to a small lake community until retirement 3 years ago. All the water has been drained and it went from the station to inside storage.
Do not test pump unless there is water in the pump All valves and drains need to be closed. To place in pump, engage air brake, put truck in neutral. Slowly shift pump lever on dash , then drive shifter into 4th. To disengage , neutral , then first position on pump lever, then all the way forward.
