    1987 Chevrolet R30 Silverado 17’ Jerr-Dan Rollback
Please read my description fully before asking questions and bidding. I will go through the truck honestly so you know what you are buying. There will be a lot to read.
You are bidding on a real solid square body Chevy R30 Flatbed. I bought this truck 3 years ago to haul classic cars for personal use as well as making this a show truck to bring to events. This was not used commercially. I looked for several years for one of these C30/R30 rollbacks simply because most were at the end of their life cycle and required a tremendous amount of work to restore or even get back into usable shape. My requirements were a Silverado (not a base model), under 100,000 miles, 454 big block, 4-Speed, Power Windows, A/C, Tilt Wheel, solid body, and Aluminum Bed in excellent condition. 3-4 years of searching and I finally found this one. When I bought it, it was sitting for a few years but after an inspection, I realized this was the truck I have been searching for.
So here’s the skinny on the truck: 1987 Chevrolet R30 Silverado with 17’ Jerr-dan Wrangler bed. Options: Silverado Package, Fuel Injected 454, 4-Speed Manual with granny low first gear, Power Windows, Tilt Wheel, Factory Air Conditioning, Rain Guards on Windows, Stainless Wheel Simulators, AM/FM/CD Stereo, dual 20 gallon Fuel Tanks, The body on this Chevy is very solid. The driver’s side rocker had some minor rust so I had it replaced with a new reproduction piece. The floor was very solid except where the rocker met it so that was patched as well. The rest of the floor is super solid. The cab corners, passenger rocker, doors, hood, fenders, drip rails are all in good shape. This truck does not have any water leaks from rain. The front windshield was replaced new. The original chrome is in very nice shape. The wiper arms and windshield wipers are also new. The drivers mirror glass was recently cracked while it was at my parking storage lot. If the final price exceeds $7,000, I will buy the new owner a mirror. The truck was originally Black. Someone repainted it White at some point. There are some nicks and chips in the paint as you would expect for a truck of its age.
The interior is original. The dash has some cracks but is still in good overall condition. The door panels are in good shape. The carpet is also in good shape. The seat is vinyl and overall in very nice shape but there is a small tear at the edge. It can be sewn up. The headliner I recommend redoing as it is starting to pull from the sides. The gauges and speedo work. There is an AM/FM/CD stereo. Aftermarket steering wheel but I have the original wheel which I will include with the sale of the truck.
The aluminum bed is in excellent condition. There are no serious gouges in the deck. The tip of the bed is not cracked or repaired like every other one I have seen. The one side rail has been pushed down slightly. I was going to remove them anyway. I had the center slide cylinder replaced by Eastern Towing Equipment. This is a brand new Jerr-Dan cylinder, not some hacked rebuilt unit. If you ever had to do one, you know how expensive this is. The system was flushed and all new fluid is throughout the hydraulic system. The bed slides back and forth fine as well as up and down. The shop told me that if anything ever happened to the truck itself, pull the bed off and mount it on something else because he has not seen one in this nice of condition in a very long time. At the rear of the bed is a tow bar that slides in and out perfectly. This is NOT a wheel lift. My plan was to remove the bar and install a 2” receiver to pull my car trailer behind the flatbed. Controls are located on the driver’s side only. There is a fast idle knob by the controls so you can get things moving quickly all at one location. There is a driver’s side tool box with a middle shelf that is very solid and NOT rusted out on the bottom. The wire rope is 50’ in length and does not have burrs or splayed pieces. There is a sports car J with T-hook V-bridle. Included is two BRAND NEW Grade 70 10’ tie down chains with J hooks on one side and R/J/T hooks on the other end. Also, you have 4 BRAND NEW lasso straps to secure cars safely around the tires/rims. The yellow beacon works fine. Associated jumper socket but the cables were missing when I got the truck. Standard jumper cables are included.
This truck runs strong and drives nice. It rides like a Cadillac with or without a car on the back. The front end is tight. The suspension is in good shape. All of the lights work. The clutch feels good and grabs without any chatter. Is this truck perfect? No, but its 85% better than everything else that’s out there. Here is a list of things done on the truck since I owned it:
    · New Front Calipers and pads
    · New Rear Wheel Cyls and Brake Shoes with Hardware
    · New Rubber Brake Hoses
    · Replaced Hard Brake Lines where needed
    · Replaced Hard Fuel Lines where needed
    · Parking Brake Cables
    · Power Steering Pump
    · Power Steering Hoses
    · Windshield Wiper Motor
    · Air Filter
    · Oil & Filter Change and Lube (Less than 200 miles ago)
    · MAP Sensor
    · New Power Window Switches Right and Left
    · New Battery
    · New Radiator
    · New Starter
This is what I know the truck needs:
    · Tires have tread but are starting to dry rot from age. I suggest replacement very soon if you are going to put this truck to work.
    · Battery cables need replacement. I plan on doing this before you pick it up though.
    · A/C Compressor Clutch frozen on. It will need a recharge. It worked when I bought it but this year it is no longer cool. Heat and defrost works fine.
    · Drivers sidefuel tank works fine. It may need a pump in the passenger tank. When you switch to the other tank, it loses fuel.
I hate to sell this truck but I have barely used it since owning it. It needs to go to someone who can use and enjoy it more than myself. This is a NO RESERVE auction. You bid, you own! Do not hesitate to ask questions before bidding. Good luck!
