Giving this another crack after an incomplete purchase transaction some months back. We are the second owner of this 1988 E-One (Emergency One) pumper, having driven her from North Carolina and its in-service role to our private use starting in the spring of 2010. We periodically re-evaluate current needs and apparatus, and our Board has determined this no longer fits our needs profile (tank"s 500 gallons is below our current spec need of 750+ gallons).
Vehicle stuff: Detroit Diesel 6V92, automatic Allison transmission, 40 gallon fuel tank. Starts and runs without issue for us over the years, including my hotter-than-a-Phoenix-summer drive last weekend. Is equipped with A/C in the cab (front and crew), but doesn"t seem to be blowing cold now (recharge in order? we rarely, if ever, use it... obviously). Air brakes equipped.
Currently stands about 103,750 miles. Regular and recent repairs include reconditioning of both battery terminal lines, new alternator and two 8D batteries (January), oil change last spring (2016); we continue to drive her regularly, but not as often as in the past as the retirement looms.
We have a wonky aircraft headset setup inside to chat... usually... that will remain with the engine. No warranty as to sound quality or overall goodness, but as a starting point, you can"t beat the price to build improvements upon
Seat upholstery has its usual wear-and-tear marks and could use some love, particularly if you"re looking for a museum-quality rig. (Today, this girl works for a living, just sayin".)
She"s also earned her battle scars. Missing the front officer simulator (Real Wheels on the remainder); brakes are next up for PM (stops fine, just been a while since the last service), the rear driver side window is not rolling up (lifting arm issue?), a bent frame around the rear officer side wheel as shown in photos. A couple of rear bumper dents as pictured.
She has a rough weight of 31,500 pounds, and a GVWR of ... 38,000 or so. Yes, you need more than a Class C (auto) license to drive this legally. It"s got the air brakes and 500 gallon tank, which both require a non-air-brake-restricted license and a tank endorsement, respectively. Class A/B or a FF endorsement for y"all California license holders is required.
Yes, you can drive her home. I wouldn"t think twice about a longer drive, and *may* even be taking her on a 200 mile trek as a final hurrah in a week (we"ll see how that works out with the boss, though). When we purchased the rig from North Carolina, it was driven home without issue or drama, and continues to be one of our more reliable pieces.
Fire stuff: She"s fitted with a Hale 1500 GPM pump and a 500 water gallon tank (we believe to be stainless steel but never kicked it hard enough to determine further), no foam functionality. 40 gallon fuel tank. Aluminum hose bed cover. Plumbed for a deck gun, not present. Roughly 400 feet of single jacket hose in the two crosslays and will remain with the vehicle unless you prefer we keep it. Seats seven (driver, officer, front center seat w/SCBA bottle alongside; two seats on either side of the motor (one each with a Zico SCBA setup, the opposite is a spring-loaded forward-facing jump seat.)
Pumps and holds water fine, so check that box. There are the usual leaks here and there, more prevalent when the pump is primed and ready to go versus sitting quietly, but not looking to sugar coat that yes, if you"re growing daisies under your rig, they will not go thirsty. As with most of the older rigs, could probably stand a proper once-over to seal up the drips... but like most older rigs owners I know, we toss a bucket underneath.
Over the years, we have installed the 6-inch reflective white stripe throughout, added NFPA 1901 (2009) chevrons, installed a MX7000 69-inch light bar with intersection sweeps (all clear domes), rear Whelen 600 LED brake/turn/tail and white LED backup lights; side Whelen 700 warning lights and front Whelen 600 warning lights. Front nose and doors were repainted in 2010 upon purchase to remove the previous agency"s markings; to that end, all markings are vinyl and will be removed by us (gently, a pet peeve of mine) prior to sale. I like lighting control, hence the host of switches to control individual lighting functions, or use the original MASTER to fire up the entire enchilada, old school style. (But light-load wise, it"s heavier than it was on Day 1.)
All lighting is currently California street-legal: no forward facing red lighting present, just clear or amber (nose LEDs). PA300 will be removed, unless buyer is an authorized, recognized fire department and can provide such documentation on agency/department letterhead. Any such documentation must be received in advance to allow for verification, or removal of... whatever... to ensure you and the vehicle leave here legal-like.
Legal stuff: Clear title in-hand, ready to sign over. Currently licensed (California, through April 2018, historic eligible but isn"t currently) and insured, though you"re responsible for insurance upon drive-off, of course.
No equipment will convey with the purchase: loose equipment, ladders, hose (other than the available-included single jacket crosslay hose noted above), tools, fittings, and appliances will be removed. All discharges and intakes will be capped (another of my pet peeves on the used apparatus market, and keeps debris out of the pipes). The one pictured scene light (never wired in) can stay or go; it is mounted in a ~1.5-inch hole, but it"s out of harm"s way either way.
Buying, Paying, and Picking Up stuff: Usual terms for these things... $500 non-refundable deposit due within 48 hours of auction close. We can store the vehicle for a time as needed. Clear title will be handed over upon either a) receipt of your funds balance payment (cashiers check or comparable) or b) cash upon arrival. Make sure you"ve got the blessing from the wife, the girlfriend, the Chief, or whomever may cause you to bid first and plan later - deposits are non-refundable, non-paying bidders are referred to eBay, all the usual stuff. Very proud of our 100% feedback since 1998, and don"t want to rock the boat now.

Nearest airport for fly-in, drive-away is Oakland (OAK); San Francisco (SFO) is the next nearest, with San Jose Mineta ((SJC) ~50 miles out (no reasonably direct public transportation options). OAK and SFO can get you near us via BART (bart.gov) and we can pick you up at the BART station. Pickup available anytime after 9/25/17.
