For sale I have a 1988 Ford F-350 rollback / flatbed tow truck. I previously used this truck for several years for my towing business, however I have joined a bigger towing company and no longer need this truck.
--460 or 7.5L engine (carbureted - with a recently rebuilt 4 barrel Holly carb)
--Manual transmission (4 speed, T19 Borg Warner model, comes with spare)
--Not even a thousand miles on the clutch
--17 ft aluminum Chevron bed
--Manual PTO (Dana/Chelsea made)
--Great brakes all around
--Nearly new tires all around
--All bed & stinger hydraulics work
--Frame in excellent, excellent condition (cab/rocker has rust)
--Replaced the front-end with a white front-end (it was originally green), and painted remainder of the cab
This truck was my daily driver tow truck (the only tow truck I had to earn a living) for several years. This truck has been sitting for all of 2015, however I have been preparing it for sale within the last few weeks with the following being done within the last month:
--New fuel tank
--New fuel pump (both the in-tank pump and the helper pump)
--New alternator
--Oil change
***WHAT THE TRUCK NEEDS / ISSUES TO BE ADDRESSED***:
--As an older truck, this obviously needs lots of TLC as any used truck would
--Hydraulic pump leaks fluid from the front seal. It is still useable (and I used it for a long time with this issue), but obviously it is losing fluid and would be a DOT issue if stopped. The drip is constant.
--The driver side exhaust manifold leaks fairly badly. It is still useable (and I used it for a long time with this issue), but it needs to be addressed. You can very much hear it popping with the engine running.
--The pin inside the steering column is broken. Thus to start the truck, I have to turn the key inside the cylinder, and manually push the pin with a small pair of vice grips instead of letting the key cylinder do it. This is a common problem with Ford trucks. I drove it for several years with this issue.
--The parking brake cable is broken.
--There is rust on the rocker panels on both sides of the truck. The frame is in excellent condition.
--The engine"s rear main seal leaks in drips.
--I recently replaced the body panels on the front-end (hood, fenders, etc.) with white ones for a better look for the truck (previously it was green). It looks ok in the photos, but the body panels need to be better lined up to be perfect.
