    1989 FORD F350 7.3 DIESEL 4X4 AMBULANCE - CAMPER VAN OVERLAND-CONVERSION READY
    1989 FORD F350
    ODOMETER: 23,165
    VIN: 1FDKF38MXKNB76751
    SINGLE CAB DUALLY
    7.3L V8 FI
    DIESEL
    4 WHEEL DRIVE
4 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH OVERDRIVE
Bought this with the plans to convert it into a super 4x4 campervan-ski-hunting overland rig. However, my plans changed, and I"ve decided to sell instead. This would make a great overland camper van, or work service truck for electricians, plumbers, construction etc.
It is a decommissioned 4x4 ambulance from the Anaconda, MT Sherriff/Fire/Search and rescue, and has the 7.3 non-turbo pre-computer diesel that has gained wide acclaim for going 300 to 400,000 miles while being easy and cheap to work on…Built like a tank, and well insulated.
Has zero body rust throughout, and minimal rust on the chassis (also has some sort of Zeibart rust inhibitor buit in, see pics)
The back cab has tons and tons of storage on the outside and inside. The back storage for the old gurneys would be perfect for 4 pairs of skis, fishing poles, or work equipment. The power inverter had been removed, but all the lights run from the truck batteries and oversized alternator. It also has a shore power plug in, AC and heat in the back, but those have not been tested.
The 4x4 works amazing, I"ve ran it in 4 high and low in snow, mud and up and down VERY steep rutted dirt roads. Rides nice on the highway, good in town and I"ve been getting between 10-16 mpg.
The odometer reads just 23,165, and that is what the owner told me it had, and what was said it had from the city auction he bought it at. From what I understand it was not used very much in this small town, however these ambulances do idle a lot, and it was suggested that it probably has ran at idle for at least 2 to 3 times the mileage listed. Even though it looks to be in very condition, I just paid to have it inspected at a local heavy duty diesel shop (they also work on all regional ambulances) to give it a full inspection and go through every inch, and here is their report:
They said it was in very good condition and appeared well maintained, but the motor did appear to have been used for more than 23,000 miles, and agreed that lots of idling would be the likely answer as the drivetrain looked very good. All fluids in the front and rear differentials and transmission looked good. It has brand new front brakes, and back brakes look good.
    - New oil and filter change (15w40) and new fuel filter.
    - Has newer front brakes and fuel injector pump.
    - Tested all glow plugs: OK
    - Has small leaks on the following: Valve cover gasket, return fuel lines, radiator and heater hose at water pump.
    - Rubber hoses that come in contact with diesel are slowly deteriorating, and may need replaced in the future.
    - Some tires are weather checked on the sidewalls: (It has been sitting quite awhile, so the tires are weathered on the sidewalls a bit, but the tread is good and they seem strong. Just drove them 200 miles no problem, however, for max safety, it could probably use a couple, or maybe all new tires.)
Let me know if you have any other questions at all...
    Thanks,
    Craig
