I have for sale a 1990 GMC Kodiak 24" box moving truck that was formerly run by Ryder. This is a very nice starting and shifting unit and drives well. It has an Allison 4 speed automatic transmission and a Caterpillar 3116 Turbo-diesel engine. I bought this truck to haul flowers a few years back for a youth league baseball team and put about 1000 miles on it hauling hanging baskets. I still have the rails that extend from side to side and the clamps that hold them in place if you wanted to haul flowers again. I also used it to move twice and move 3 other families. I used it over the Winter as storage for our household stuff and have just emptied it and need to find it a new home. I have put about 3000 miles on it in total.
The ceiling in the box is fiberglass and shows a lot of light through and is dry. The floor is treated wood and, although it shows some use, it is very solid. The framework under the box is solid, showing some surface rust, but most of it still has a coat of OEM paint. where you see some flakes, it is the paint peeling. The roll-up door in the back works well and locks with a high security latch, but the aluminum sheet metal on the panels is corroding a bit and is a little loose in some places.
The interior of the box is 24" long by 96 wide and 8" tall. It comes with an aluminum ramp that stows under the truck between the frame rails and is long enough to make walking into the box from the ground very easy as well as moving items up or down with a dolly.
It as some cosmetic flaws such as worn driver seat, minimal rust, missing headliner, etc. Also to be DOT needs to have some minor work done such as fuel tank straps replaced, batteries secured, brake work (work just fine, shoes are getting thin) front-end needs a little work, steering is a little sloppy.
It has two new batteries and starts up quickly every time. The engine has just been serviced with an oil change and mechanically it is very sound. The turbo spools up quickly and it overall has great power. If you are looking at flying in and driving home, I see no reason this would not make a long trip with ease.
Shipping to be arranged by the buyer. Feel free to contact me with any questions.
This would make an excellent tool truck, bike hauler, moving van, storage shed, scrapper truck, picker truck, storage auction truck, etc.
Thanks --
