1992 Chevrolet Kodiak C60 CAT inline 6 turbo diesel with 6 speed manual trans, runs great, starts and has plenty of power but gets exceptional fuel economy. Truck is in great shape. Truck is built as an equipment hauler: forklifts man lifts etc. Can be used to tow vehicles, has smooth surface aluminum bed, hydraulics al work properly with a two speed winch. Truck weighs 11000 pounds empty and has a 23,1000 GVWR so it can haul 12,000 pounds easily. Truck does not have provisions to tow a second car but it does have a trailer hitch and trailer brakes to tow a trailer. The front tires are at 80% virgins and the rear tires are 90% recaps. The brakes are new all all 4 corners. I have been using it every day for the past two months and have gone over the truck:repairs including hydraulic hoses, brakes, power steering pump, fuel tank removed cleaned and filters replaced, LED lights. Interior is very nice, some of the extra wiring could be cleaned up. Drivers side rocker has some rust but that is an EZ fix.
I purchased this truck fro G Stone Commercial in Middleburg VT as a running functional tow truck. I drove from Delaware to Vermont 400 miles and 8 hours one way to pick up. When I arrived I was told the vehicle was inspected and good to travel on public roads. As I was dong a pre trip inspection and checking lights tires fluids, I noticed the power steering fluid was completely empty. The dealership was nice enough to give me three quarts of fluid and I added fluid but the power steering system would not make any pressure. I drove the truck around and around the dealership lot and still could not feel safe origin home with out any power assist steering and o this truck uses the power steering pump to provide brake pressure. I decided to refuse delivery because the truck was was not advertised as functioning vehicle. I left the truck there. The dealership offers to pay for the part but I had already taken a day off work and tolls and fuel and I told them I didnt not want the truck and wanted my money back. After several messages and phone calls with out coming to agreement I finally got a letter in the mail claiming they were charging me $20 a day storage all the way back. So i was forced to drive up there again install a $700 power steering pump pay the $2100 ransom and attempt to drive it home. When I pilled out onto the road, the truck would not go over 40 MPH. The truck was starving for fuel. I stopped at an auto parts store and bought two fuel filters and a piece of fuel line which I had noticed the fuel line was sucked shut. I was finally forced to remove the fuel tank on the side of the road and remove an 18 strip of duct tape in the fuel tank that was getting sucked up and cutting off fuel delivery. After this the truck ran great and gave me no problems at all. It got over 15 MPG on the ride home. It runs drives and operates great.
