Up for sale is a great running truck. My family has owned it for about 5 years now, and has what we believe to only be 141k original miles. It has 3.54 gears and can run 70 on the highway.
Please read everything carefully as I want to share everything i know to not have any known surprises. This truck would be a perfect hauler or work truck.
They never made a crew cab in this year, and this one has been cab swapped to make it a crew cab. It was done legally for Texas standards with all paperwork from the state for it. I have a clear texas title in my name, Along with the original title to the cab, AND the orginal cab to the kodiak. It was in decent shape when it was pulled, but has been sitting for about 5 years, but can come with purchase. It does still have the original VIN plate in it, as here in texas, the state installs a new vin for the swap. other states might be different so that can be included at no charge to help with everything.Again it does have a clear Texas Title, and was legally swapped. When it was done it passed 3 different styles of state inspection with no issues.
This was bought and swapped by my dad years ago to use for a hauler for his company. Mechanically the truck is great shape. There was ZERO mechanical problems before the swap. He had always talked about wanting a crew cab so he did it then we got this. There are a few differences between the cabs. The wire harness was NOT hacked up or cut up in anyway. It was pulled thru the bulk head connector, left on the engine, then put back into the Crewcab along with the original kodiak dash so everything would work, without messing with the wiring. The crew cab did not have a dog house that covers the engine like the kodiak cab did, so one was built and it does serve the purpose and it does not leak. However someone with better metal fab skill could prolly improve on this and build a new dog out to make it, But it does serve its purpose as this is only a cosmetic thing. Before the swap the tach didnt work. and it still doesnt. Speedo, Oil pressure, Volt meter, along with the warning indicators all work as they should. We took apart the cluster to get the Tach trying to work, and now the Coolant temp doesnt read correctly. Prolly finding another cluster would be easiest. When the dash was swapped, we put a new evaporator core under the dash when it was out. When the truck was finished and we went to charge the AC, the brand new evap core was leaking from it. So the AC does not work. The heater and the blower do work as does the Radio. In my opnion everything is very minor, and we used the truck just how it for a while. If you wanted to make it show level then i can see needing to fix it, but if you wanted to put it to work, I think only minor things need fixed that were mentioned along with adding steps to the rear doors.Truck uses Elctric over hydraulic brakes So no Air brakes that need CDL
Truck is 24 years old so there is a few small issues but i feel like it is still a great truck. I wish i had a use for it now a days or i would be keeping it, but it has just sat for about 3 years now. It gets started up and moved around the property every couple months. Still starts right up. The batteries will prolly need replaced before too long. The tires have decent tread that would pass inspection, but not sure on the age. 5 years ago when this truck was in its prime, i would have no issues driving across the country, However I trailer every new truck i get until i can go thru it.It has sat for a few years. it will fire right up right now, but on the safe side it would either need to be trailered or gone thru maintenance first, if you plan on driving a long long distance. But again mechanically there is ZERO issues, if you are like me,
here are some cosmetic things that it needs all around, like steps for the rear doors. but overall pulls way better than a 1 ton with a cummins and will do it every day with no break downs
