Up for sale is our 1994 Western Star H/D shopbuilt wrecker . Truck is in excellent mechanical condition and still in use at this time . Has a Cat 3406C 425HP mechanical engine with aprox 150XXX on in frame , fuller 15 spd O/D with deep reduction w/ aux cooler , 48000 rears on air ride . air ride cab . cold a/c . L/P 24.5 drives & 315 / 22.5 steers . Front set of drives are worn , rest are great . The Wrecker unit was built in our shop in 2004 using a Petibone 70K 2 stage boom ,extends out 12" , it has the Petibone winch in tact & a 35K Braden winch with a 2 speed gearbox & hydraulic motor that is very handy for long recovery"s .Two hydraulic outriggers . It has a tandem hydraulic pump so both winches can run at the same time without power loss to either . With the size & placement of the cylinders the lift capacity of the boom is incredible , we have never had any issues / failures in lifting & recovering with this rig since built & still performs as good as day 1 , some recovery pics are included for example . we have made a lot of business with this truck outside of Heavy trucks with under water recovery"s , storm / disaster clean up , loading equipment , stacking trailers etc. It has an integrated style under reach that has hydraulic tilt / extend with load bearing security chains, extended is aprox 8" . we have hauled loaded tractor trailers with ease , some loaded mixers/tandems ( 20,000 # front weight ) make it a bit steer light but it can handle them . All aluminum wheels inside & out . Truck is set up with a 2nd pto that was never used , was going to run a shaft to generator or aux pump of some nature but never did . has 1 150 gal fuel tank drivers side , pass side is hydraulic . Hydraulics are are all top quality vickers valves , weatherhead hoses & vickers return filter . Body is all steel solid body & compartments ,the doors are light sheet steel and getting rusted as shown . The whole body / boom is built on 8 H beams and bolted to the truck so it could be removed as one unit just like the other guys do it . The body looks similar to a Jerr Dan but is not . 4 sets of upper work lights , 1 set of lowers , side work lights , 4 corner strobes and whelen overhead strobe , headlight flashers , compartment lights . 2 work hose reels , one inside & other on rear for supply to towed vehicle . comes with a few under reach attachments , few chains & 2 snatch blocks to get started as shown . set of trailer light cables & air brake hoses .As stated this is a shop built truck , 35 ton is an estimate of what its capacity would be but we have no way of rating that , although we have exceeded that by far in both recovery and towing , the heaviest we have towed was a 105,000 pound heavy hauler 35 miles with no issues . We are a heavy truck repair shop and this truck has brought a lot of work in our doors for aver 12 years , it put us on the map for heavy recovery as I"m sure it will the next guy . I can not stress enough that this truck has givin us years of flawless performance , no issues with any of the fabrication work at all , just the usual broken cables & such that go with the territory . Our only reason for selling is we have built a new tri axle wrecker and have no use for two heavy"s . Any ??? call Mike - 309-649-9240 Clear title in hand !The bad : It obviously could use some body & paint work , the clear is peeled of the top hood also .It has some old right rear damage shown in pics where a snow plow hit the back , cometic only . The rear outriggers leak externally & settle down , we just keep them chained up when not used they still hold fine when extended . The rear strobe on back body are out . The lower winch is short on cable , would probably change both reels anyway 9/16 cable usually keep around 250" on each . It will be due for service , we always run Rotella Synthetic in it .The shifter could use a new insulator in it , it feels a bit loose but been this way for years .Needs a cable toe the rear controls for winch hi-lo shift replaced , can be shifted up front at side door . THIS IS A PERFECT LOW COST TRUCK FOR SOME ONE WANTING TO ENTER THE HEAVY ARENA OR HAVE A SECOND UNIT !!! LOW RESERVE ! You know what a new rig like this cost or a good used one carrying a name badge , save $$$$$$$ and do the same and look as good !
