Up for auction is a 1996 Chevrolet 3500 HD Wrecker, This truck has a 6.5 Turbo diesel and automatic tranny, The wrecker body is Jerr-Dan Aluminum body with hydraulic extendable boom and twin 8,000 pound winches, The wheel lift has hydraulic jaws ( not manual L-Arms) for easy hookup, There is a nice amber light bar on it and it has an aluminum tunnel box between the cab and the body. Cab is solid with very little rust.
THE BAD : The previous owner stated that there was a small fire under the truck when a hydraulic hose blew, fire was quickly put out but not before some wiring burned, he was working on replacing / repairing the hire harness but never finishes it, Truck needs to be finished I did notice that it also needs a shift cable and an alternator that I know of, I took this truck in trade as is so I never heard it run but the previous owner said that it was a nice running and working truck before the fire (there is no visible damage from the fire other then some burnt wires and a hose ) I got the truck thinking that I would remove the body and put it on a 4 wheel drive chassis because its a very nice aluminum body and setup but decided to buy a wrecker all built due to lack of time. It is a good candidate to that or with some work and love this truck could be put back together. Vermont does not title any vehicles over 15 years old so this will be sold with a dealer report of sale only, Truck will have to be towed or trailered because it does DOES NOT RUN at this time.
