I am selling my 1997 GMC bucket truck. It is a forestry package. It was an ex asplundh truck. I purchased the truck with about 32,000 miles on it, over 7 years ago, and have done the following:
New clutch a year ago and there"s about 2500 miles on it.
New brakes all around 2 years ago, pads discs, wheel bearings
New oil pan installed about a month ago, the oil drain plug was not tightening enough.
Typical maintenance parts like oil changes, cap and rotor when needed, plugs, wires etc. regularly maintained
Boom has not been certified in 2 years, but will pass certification without issue. Boom is nice and tight. Pins regularly greased and maintained.
One new rear tire in October of last year prior to sticker, 2 new front tires in October of 2014 proper to sticker. All tires are good and pass with plenty of life
    Painted in November of 2014
My bucket guy just went over the truck after using it Friday and replaced the back up alarm, which had come off its mount, checked all fluids, as our employees always do at the end of the week, replaced some loose bolts on the upper to lower boom stop (the small springy rod that limits it when fully closed on the truck) he said nothing else looked out of place.
The heater works great, plenty of heat. But, the selector know for the fan speed is broken off. We have a spare cab for parts, and that know was busted off as well. We have been using a pair of needle nose we keep in the cab to adjust the speed. If I can make it over to a junk yard this week, I"ll get one, otherwise, i took a pic to show you, but it still works fine.
Not much more for maintenance. This truck has needed very little. It runs and drives very nicely. It has been extremely dependable. The only reason for selling is because I have a taller bucket, and don"t use this as much anymore. The bucket works great, it"s an Altec 50, and I will include a pic of the model and serial number. It is tight, it"s a 3 lever joystick, with the hydraulic hookup for tools, not a pistol grip. There"s a Kubota pony which runs great as well. The truck has 47,088 miles, but we are using it, and that mileage will change. For the next week or so, I will use the other one, so this can sit during the auction and see if someone wants it, but we are running her because we don"t like trucks to sit doing nothing. The on,y complaint about the truck is its a little slow when full of chips and pulling a chipper up hills, etc... But it gets it done and if driven with care, will get it done for a long time. The toolbox has a missing door. An employee caught it with a large sugar maple right after it was painted. The door is still in my shop, but is really bent. I"ll be happy to include it if requested, but it would need a lot of work to fix. These doors can be found with some research, there"s a lot of these trucks out there. If you want a good solid dependable truck, this will work for you. It"s a great starter truck, it was my first bucket, and it will pay for itself very quickly. It paid for itself the first year I bought it.
Again, the mileage has changed by maybe 30 miles or so, I can"t recall. If you want exact mileage, and want additional pics, please call or text nate. 978-836-7180. The pics of the bucket and worker were taken in action a few weeks ago.
Ask any and all questions. Again, the mileage will change, but is only being used locally, so won"t accrue too much while we use her a little. Thanks for looking.
