After 23 yrs on the road I"m finally hanging it up and moving on to the next stage of my life. For sale is my truck that I have owned for 14 yrs which is currently leased to Landstar. I bought this truck on 01 with only 423,000 on it. It now has a little over 2 million but still runs good. I had the engine overhauled last November with 1.1 million on it. It would have kept running except the head gasket went out and limped it home. This is the 2nd overhaul on the truck, the first being in 04 with 813,000 on truck and engine. The overhaul was done in Sioux Falls at I state truck center and has a factory warranty which is good till 11-7-15. It"s transferable to the new owner. The transmission was replaced 6 yrs ago as well as the power divider on the forward axle. both units have about 550,000 on them and both are still working fine. The drive shafts, all of them, were overhauled about the same time with new yolks and u-joints and rebalanced . The clutch was replaced at after the first overhaul and still works fine. I only use it to stop and go as I float through the gears. All the gear boxes were serviced every 2 yrs with synthetic oil. The rear diff is still tight and has 2 million on it. I drive this truck very gently and the cruising speed is 60. I"ve driven this truck at 60 mph since I got it and babied it that"s why it still looks and runs good after all these years. The 5th wheel was rebuilt 3 yrs ago, new heater fan, windshield wiper motor, air filters 2 months ago, fuel pump last year, turbo 2 yrs ago, air compressor 2 yrs ago, new steer tires in the last month, A/C serviced this week. The big Heard bumper works like it should as I"ve taken out bambi a few times. It"s well worth having, I wouldn"t drive without one.
The interior is in good condition, never smoked in. Cleans up well all lights work. Double bunk and plenty of storage space, even under the bed. The drivers seat needs replacing however. The truck is still a good truck and would make a fine 1st truck or farm truck. I currently have dedicated automotive loads that I run weekly so you can rest assure that the truck is being maintained on a weekly basis. I hate to see her go she"s really been a great truck and really gave me no problems in all the years I"ve had it. She still needs some TLC here and there. Here are a few problems that need some attention: The pyrometer works on occasion, needs a new sensor. The fuel tank sending unit needs replaced, but hey a flashlight shined in the tank works right? The forward and rear axle temp gauges need replacing. You will need tires in back soon. I can get Michelin re-treads here in town for 158 a piece. I"ve used nothing but these tires since I"ve owned the truck and they wear just as good as a new one for a lot less $$. If you want me to get new tires on before you pick it up add $1,800 to the final price of the truck, it"s only fair. The brakes will need replacing in back soon they are below 1/2. Drums are OK. Anti lock brake system needs looking at, abs light on in the last week.
Here the tough part, whats the truck actually worth? I"ve looked on Truck Paper and the web and the high price I"ve found was 32,000 for a similar model and $13,000 as a low for the same model. Somewhere in there this truck falls. I have a buy it now price of $22,000 or BEST OFFER. I have a clear title to the truck and as a bonus I"ll pay the 2290 this month before the new owner picks it up. That"s a $550 freebie, free is always good. I have to service the truck this week and thats a bonus too. PM service averages $220. This truck and me will be working this week and will be every week till it sells. At least you know your getting a truck that"s ready to work as soon as you get it. The best way to get a hold of me is cell phone if you have any questions rather than send a message to ebay. I"ve been an owner operator since 98 and its tough to do this but with my diabetes starting to get worse it"s time to get out of the hammer lane and shut it down. At least I got my 1 million safe mile driving award from Landstar last year, I"m happy for that. If you like the truck please don"t hesitate to call or text.
