Im selling our 1998 Freightliner FL112 Daycab Road Tractor. We have owned this truck since around 2008. We owned this truck with my uncle and it was used at one of the businesses we were partners on until he passed away, then we decided to close that location. The truck has a Cummins M11+, Jake Brakes, Eaton Fuller RTX14710C 10 Speed Transmission, air ride suspension, 12k front axle, 40k rears, 170 inch wb, 3.90 rear ratio. The truck drives straight down the road, does not roam or wonder and the front end is tight, clutch feels like it should, transmission shifts nice with no issues, noises, or jumping out of gear, engine runs good, does not smoke leak oil everywhere, tires are all virgins in good condition. The body is what you would expect for a 1998 work truck, it might have a ding here or there and has some rust in the back of the cab like all these trucks get, the frame is clean with no rust or corrosion. The interior is not bad, all the lights and gauges work expect the speedometer. It did work before it was parked. Its probably a simple fix like a speed sensor, I have not looked into it. Some of the gauges have the needles broken, but they still work. Heat works, a/c not working but did use to freeze you out back when we were running the truck. Here is what I know the truck needs.
It needs a windshield, some kids threw some rocks at this one and put some crabs in it. Its not busted out by any means, but is cracked and will need to be replaced down the road.
It will need a manifold Gasket. We pulled the truck off the road the week my uncle died to have it fixed, then after he passed we decided to park everything and shut that location down. It can be driven like it is, but you can hear the exhaust leak and would need to be addressed before being worked.
Sometimes when the truck sits for a while, it has to crank a bit to start. I think it has a check valve bleeding off in the fuel line. It doesn"t do it every time, sometimes it fires right off, but wanted to make it known that it does do it sometime. After the truck has started, you can shut it back off and it will fire right up on the first turn.
Ive tried to list all the bad I could think of so there are no surprises when you get here and you know exactly what you are buying. The old truck was a dependable truck for us and never let us down. This will make someone a good cheap farm, log, or local truck. We have kept it around because the truck is sentimental to us because we owned it with our uncle and kept thinking we might put it back to work, but its time to thin the heard. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
