This is an awesome Freightliner MT-45 with a 12 valve Cummins 6BT engine, and an Allison 4 speed transmission. I purchased this truck in October of 2013 and it was previously owned by FedEx. This truck is an all ALUMINUM body with an indestructible drive train. FedEx has an excellent reputation for maintaining their vehicles, and I have done a lot since I purchased it.
The exterior is straight and clean but shows signs of the old lettering from FedEx, as well as some minor surface pealing and rust on the front bumper, rear bumper and the high mounted exhaust fan housing, above the drivers door. There are no dents or damage. Please see the pics. The back door operates freely as all rollers have been replaced along with the cables. It has a receiver hitch to the back.
The 14 foot cargo area of the truck was insulated with 1 1/2 inches of Styrofoam and sheeted with 1/2 pressure treated plywood. The cargo area was then primed and painted gloss white. The original translucent roof is in tact with no leaks and allows a lot of much needed light. The cargo area has been up fitted with over $3000 in tool boxes and stainless steel shelving units which are absolutely awesome for any type of contractor, road service mechanic, or race car team. However we can remove it if the buyer wishes. The passenger jump seat has an additional 3 of memory foam and was professionally recovered, the driver seat is in new condition and very comfortable.
The suspension has been completely brought up to specs with 4 new shocks, a complete 4 wheel brake job including new calipers and hardware, new steel brake lines, new high pressure rubber brake hoses, new wheel bearings and seals on all 4 wheels, an extra set is included with the truck, new manual parking brake assembly from Mills Supply. The drive shafts have been balanced and new u-joints and center bearing installed by Fleet Pride. A new muffler and tail pipe have been installed and the differential was recently serviced by L&P Diesel.
Mechanically you will not find a better truck, with only 294,000 miles this baby isn"t even broken in yet. With proper maintenance these engines routinely go well over a million miles. Since I have owned this truck the engine has received regular oil changes at 5000 mile intervals, I only use Rotella and ALWAYS add Lucas in all of my vehicles. Both of the fuel filters, there is one under the truck at the tank and a cartridge under the hood, have been changed every 6 months. The Allison 4 speed was serviced by Dartco Transmission in Charlotte, NC and the in pan filter, pan gasket, spin on filter and fluid were changed as well as all necessary adjustments. A complete top end service was performed in June by L & P Diesel, and all valves were set to factory specs, new valve cover gaskets, new valve cover O-rings, etc. the truck runs like new. It has a new electric fan . This keeps the engine MUCH cooler than the original set up and reduces drag on the engine. At the time that the fan was installed, the water pump, thermostat, upper and lower hoses were replaced. The air filter is new and flows freely. The windshield wiper motor was replaced 3 months after buying the truck and has a lifetime warranty at Advance Auto Parts. New Turbo seals and bearings were installed by the G-Pop Shop in Tucson AZ. This is a worry free drivetrain.
The tires on this truck are great, with 4 fairly new re-treads on the rear, which have been balanced for a smooth ride and there are 2 brand new Dunlop tires on the front with less than 200 miles on them. I do have 1 spare that goes with the truck.
Upgrades and added features include a custom built dash with built in cup holders on both the driver and passenger sides, a Pioneer AM/FM MP3, CD player with aux. input. 4 speakers, 2 power ports, rear view back up camera with 7 monitor.
All of this with a pre emission 12 valve Cummins 6BT. The truck gets around 17MPG.
