FOR SALE - 1998 GMC 7500 Cab & Chassis. 70,000 +/- miles.
We installed a 55’ Altec AM855 bucket truck body removed from another truck. This truck originally had a service body. IT IS NOT A FACTORY INSTALLATION. It was done in-house by our shop. We have used it to reach head pulleys, etc. at high heights but have since replaced it with a manlift. It runs well and we have had no problems with it. We had a remote start installed at a GMC dealer. The “off” button on the fob must be pushed or it will drain the battery. It has dual buckets that swing around to the same side if necessary. The truck has 4 outriggers.
The truck has a 3126 Caterpillar engine and an automatic transmission. The tires are about 40% or so. It would be up to the buyer to gauge the safety of the lift body. Although we use it as such, we cannot verify that it is an acceptable personnel lifting device for your application. I realize that it sounds as if we are suggesting that it will not work. We only want the purchaser to realize that this bed was added by our staff and not by a dealer or lift manufacturer and therefore it has no certifications. We use it when necessary and used to use it exclusively.
Overall this is a nice unit. It is located at our gravel pit in Gallipolis Ferry, WV. There are no issues with it other than the matter with the off button on the fob. We haven’t used it much since we got the lift and as such it is on the disposal list. As you can see by looking at our store we have entirely too much stuff. If you have time, check out our other items.
Thanks for looking.
