Elk Forest Farms, Inc. is pleased to offer a used 1998 Peterbilt 378 truck tractor up for sale. I have a clear PA title with this truck. It has air ride suspension. The rears are 4.11 ratio. The Caterpillar C15 engine starts good and runs out strong. I see minimal blowby when truck in running, please view the videos. The truck has a 3 stage Jake Brake that works good. The transmission is a 10-speed. All transmission speeds work well. The clutch works well. The previous owner told me they rebuilt the transmission at approx. 750k miles and replaced the clutch at that time also. The brakes are approx. 95%. The front drums and brake are brand new. All tires are in fair condition and hold air. I bought this truck with 828k on it and I put every mile on it. I drove it until replaced this truck with a custom built 2006 daycab Pete we built from scratch. When we bought this truck there was a sticker on the top of the valve cover that read certified cat rebuild. From washing the truck over the last few years the sticker has long disappeared. As soon as we bought the truck we installed a brand new 4 core rad, both rebuilt rears, used alum. Protech toolbox, beacon cab light, pioneer CD player, and LED CB radio. At 940k miles we took the truck for extensive repairs including all (4) new rear bushings in the air leafs, both rear end torsion bar bushings were replaced with red neoprene bushings, new water pump, new belts, front leaf spring bushings, all new king pins and bushings, total wheel alignment, new front wheel bearing and seals, valve and jake brake adjustments, and new oil pan and gasket. The bill at this time with parts was approx. $6500. As you can see in the pictures I bent the front bumper however I have a used one in great shape that goes with the sale. I bought it and never got a chance to install it. The exhaust system has a few holes in it. There is a small hole at the downpipe. I have a brand new Pete downpipe that goes with it. The Y pipe has a leak too. I have a brand new Y pipe that goes with it too. I never had a chance to install it. Despite the trucks" looks it has been an awesome truck for us and it has never failed us over the years. The front hood has some dings and cracks that were like that when we got the truck.
