We have a trash truck for sale that is a 2001 GMC/Isuzu W5500. This truck has a fresh paint job and runs/drives, and came from the City of Ann Arbor.
It has a few mechanical issues that we have not had time to look at:
1. Some of the fuses are burned out, and when you replace them the new fuses burn out2. The transmission does not shift gears if left in drive, but does shift if you manually move the lever 1-2-3, etc. We think that there may be a wiring issue related to the fuses blowing3. The engine does not turn off when you shut the key off. this diesel has a stop solenoid that we think is not getting power (due to fuse issues)4. The dashboard mostly does not work. It appears to have no power. If you push a button on the dash the speedo and odo light up. For this reason, I am not sure if Odometer is accurate.
We think that when this vehicle was sold they removed some of their equipment and cut or damaged the under dash wiring. It"s been on our to-do list to get it fixed, but haven"t had a lot of time so we are willing to discount the truck price to reflect the needed work. Truck is sold as-is, but any winning bidder has the right to inspect the vehicle at time of pickup and make a final decision to purchase.
