Here is my Freightliner Sprinter. It is a 2004, Model 2500SHC, with single rear wheels. It has the 140 wheelbase and the high roof. It has exactly 203500 miles on it. It is powered by the Mercedes 2.7 liter 5 cylinder diesel engine and has an automatic transmission. I bought this truck on Ebay in 2010 and used it in my business. It recently quit running and I bought a newer truck to replace it.
This truck is currently not running. It evidently got a really bad batch of fuel. It started running rough and finally would not start. I had it towed to the Mercedes dealer and they determined that water in the fuel had done significant damage to the fuel delivery and injection system. Here is what they said specifically needs done to repair it:Replace low pressure fuel pump (lift pump) that moves the fuel from the tank to the engineReplace high pressure fuel pump (injection pump) that compresses the fuel to injection pressureReplace all five fuel injectorsReplace both fuel rails (tubes) that route the fuel from the injection pump to the injectorsDrop fuel tank, drain and clean it thoroughlyReplace fuel filtersThe Mercedes dealer told me that the cost of the parts would be around $3500 and the labor would be around $1500. I decided that I did not want to put that much money into this truck so here it is.
In addition to the fuel system issues described above here are the other bad things about this truck:Radio does not workDriver"s seat is torn (see photo)Passenger seat armrest is missingSliding side door outside release handle does not work in cold weather. It works fine in summer.Battery is goneNormal wear and tear for a cargo van of it"s ageNormal surface rust for a Sprinter of it"s age in OhioGraffiti on driver"s side of bodySpare tire is no goodJack is missingNow for the good:A/C worksPower windows workPower locks workKeyless entry worksMetal partition with window between cab and cargo area (no door)Protective screens on windows in cargo areaDecent tires all aroundEngine ran good before fuel problem. Did not smoke and did not use oil.Transmission shifts smooth and does not slipAll doors open and close goodRecent replacement of brake pads all aroundPower steering worksDrove straight and smooth. Did not pull or shake. No significant fluid leaksPower mirrors workCruise control worksIf you can do the work yourself you could probably repair the engine and have a usable truck for not a lot of money. Or, if you have other Sprinters, this would be a good parts truck. It is located in New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663. It will need to be towed or hauled on a trailer. It is currently stored inside to prevent further vandalism. I have a skid steer loader and can help you push/pull it onto a trailer. Truck must be picked up within one month after purchase.
$500 deposit via PayPal is required at time of purchase. Balance to be paid in cash when truck is picked up. Good Ohio title in hand. Starting price is $2000 with no reserve. This truck is sold as is, where is, and with no warranty of any kind. All sales are final, no returns.
