Caterpillar C7 Long block engine, Don Allison automatic transmission
Engine fully rebuilt in fall of 2018, less than 1000 miles on new engine.
Rebuild included: professionally bored cylinders, new pistons, rings, gaskets, oil pump, and alternator.
Carrier refrigeration unit with separate diesel generator for power. Diesel generator and compressor in good working order. It has issues with the control unit inside the cab during continuous operation - my refrigeration guy says there is a bug in either the controller or microprocessor. Before this started, it had no issues maintaining single digit Fahrenheit operation.
We have a farm-to-market beef operation and bought this truck to pick up and deliver frozen beef. It ran fine for us for 5 months before two cylinders broke rings and required a rebuild. During the long rebuild process, we decided that it was too large for our operation and we replaced it with a much smaller refrigerated van.
At the end of the day, we just did not need this large of a truck and didn"t want to invest the money in a new control unit for a truck that didn"t fit our need.
I think I picked the right classification for this truck. It does NOT require a CDL to drive but does require a US DOT number.
If you don"t need a refer truck - this would be easy to use as a box truck and the diesel generator and compressor could be removed and sold.
We got burned by a late bidder last time we listed it who never even followed through with a contact - and we lost a serious buyer in the process to another truck. Please don"t bid unless you are willing to follow through. The resolution process to get our listing fee back wasn"t much fun to go.
