2007 Isuzu NRR Box Truck

THE MOTOR RUNS BUT HAS A KNOCKING SOUND. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM THE TOP END.
I shut off the motor as soon as I heard the sound. A mechanic took the oil pan and the valve cover off and said it all looked good, put new oil in the motor. He drained the fuel tank put a new fuel filter on and put fresh fuel in the tank with an additive. The sound is still there and not smoking out the exhaust.
