WE GOT THIS TRUCK FROM ONE OF OUR LOCAL FEDEX GROUND CONTRACTORS. THIS TRUCK WAS BOUGHT SPECIFICALLY FOR REGIONAL RUNS WHICH ARE USUALLY 2-2,500 MILES PER WEEK. THESE TRUCKS USUALLY RUN AT NIGHT, SO THEY"RE AT THE SHOP DURING THE DAY. THEY CONSTANTLY DO PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS IN PERFECT SHAPE, WHICH ULTIMATELY $AVE$ THEM $$$!!!
MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS TRUCK HAD NEW "DPF FILTER" INSTALLED EARLY 2016 & 3 NEW INJECTORS A FEW WEEKS BEFORE WE GOT IT! OTHER THAN THAT JUST NORMAL PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE. NO PROBLEMS WITH TRUCK WHATSOEVER, JUST REPLACED AFTER 5 YRS WITH NEW EQUIPMENT. WE HAVE A MATCHING 2012 COMING OFF IN THE NEXT WEEK OR SO AS WELL.
BOTTOM LINE ON THESE FEDEX TRUCKS IS THEY DON"T HAUL ANY WEIGHT ON SUSPENSION OR PULLING, SO ENGINES, DRIVE TRAIN & SUSPENSION DON"T HAVE TO WORK NEAR AS HARD AS NORMAL TRUCKING. THEY"RE ALSO CLOSE TO HOME, SO THEY DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR SHOP TO KEEP THEM AS PERFECT AS POSSIBLE, B/C FEDEX KILLS THEIR SENIORITY FOR EVEN ONE BREAKDOWN/LATE DELIVERY!!!
THE "DD13" IS THE NEW TECHNOLOGY ($CR/DEF) WHICH IS A GOOD THING! STARTING WITH THE 1ST STEP THE NEW EMISSION LAWS IN 2005 & THE 2ND STEP IN 2008 (DPF FILTERS), THEY FINALLY GOT THINGS PRETTY MUCH FIGURED OUT WHEN THEY CAME OUT WITH THE "$CR/DEF" TECHNOLOGY. THE ENGINES MADE IN 2008-2010 HAD TO CLEAN THE DPF FILTERS BY DOING A "REGIN", WHICH OFTEN TIMES THEY WOULDN"T "REGIN" PROPERLY & PORCELAIN FILTERS HAD TO BE TAKEN OFF & CLEANED. BEING PORCELAIN THEY OFTEN CRACKED WHEN TAKING OFF TO CLEAN & NEW FILTER COST $3K+! USING THE "DEF FLUID" THE "DPF FILTER" IS CLEANED CONSTANTLY WHILE THE TRUCK"S RUNNING DOWN THE ROAD. BECAUSE OF THIS, THEY WERE ABLE TO SET THE TIMING OF THE ENGINE AT TOP DEAD CENTER INSTEAD OF "RETARDING/BRIDGING" THE ENGINES LIKE THEY"D DONE SINCE 2005. THIS ALLOWS THE ENGINE TO RUN CLEAN LIKE IT SHOULD AND THAT"S WHY THEY"RE ABLE TO GET 450 HP OUT OF 13 LITER ENGINE WITHOUT WORKING ENGINE TOO HARD. THEY ALSO GET BETTER FUEL MILEAGE B/C ENGINE CAN RUN LIKE IT SHOULD INSTEAD OF WORKING HARD B/C TIMING IS CORRECT.
