Meet The Fire & Ice Cream Truck!
This unique vintage vending vehicle was completely rebuilt from a 1946 Ford Fire Truck which served as the 1st motor driven fire truck for the city of Albion, Illinois. It has a steel structured, wood covered back area which includes a 14 cubic foot Nelson Mfg. commercial cold plate freezer (holds frozen items for 12 hrs without electricity with an overnight charge), 12V battery and 1500W DC to AC inverter, stereo and outdoor speakers, AC air-conditioner window unit, solar-powered exhaust fan, stainless steel table and shelf, newly upholstered gold vinyl car seat, back door with flaming ice cream cut out window, and a one-of-a-kind propane fire-organ (twelve pipes on rooftop that shoots fire controlled by keyboard). The fire-organ lives on the roof of the truck and swings into place on hinges once truck is parked. Ladder on passenger side has plexiglass attached and hinges down to create the serving counter, and a side hatch opens upward for vending. The original cherry light, flood light, and siren all work. Decorative accessories include an antique metal fire engine toy, fireman boots, gas mask, fire poker, and an antique extinguisher. All painted details are done by hand.
We purchased the vehicle in it"s original, non working condition, and rebuilt with the following details to bring it up to licensable, road worthy conditions:
Installed new 350 cubic inch Chevy crate motor,
Rebuilt 400 turbo auto transmission
Replaced all brakes with new shoes
Replaced all wheel cylinders with stainless sleeves,
Replaced all brake lines and hoses
Rewired entire truck with new wiring
Installed new gauges
Installed new Lokar shifter
Installed corvette brake booster and master cylinder
Installed custom 2 piece drive shaft
6 new tires and tubes
Installed oversized aluminium radiator
Installed electric cooling fan
It has a clear title, and is insurable and street legal.
This vehicle is a real work of art and show stopper, and it"s unique qualities have supported a landmark business in the St Louis region for 8 years of busy late spring into fall seasons. It is not designed as a neighborhood to neighborhood ice cream truck, but rather a food/concession truck which is ideal for a semi-stationary "home base", with additional opportunity for serving at events, private parties and festivals. Young and old all love this truck and we get a constant stream of compliments and bookings. Festivals and party planners love to use this truck to enhance the atmosphere of their events and normally place it front and center. This vehicle currently works on batteries and is quiet during operation. A generator could easily be added but the silence is a big plus when hired for an event and has given us an advantage to other vending trucks regarding location. No one likes loud, noisy generators or running engines during a party.
We use this truck to sell locally made prepackaged drinks and desserts as well ice cream. The truck currently does food truck events, corporate events, office lunches, birthday parties, weddings and more, and we have made excellent annual averages for a small summer business. This is a great, fun way of making extra income, and would be ideal in areas with longer warm seasons. If you live in the St Louis area we would include our phone number and all local contacts with the price of the truck.
The measurement of the truck is 9" tall x 24" long x 9" wide. You"ll need a tall garage door for entrance to storage.
Feel free to ask us anything about this one of a kind vehicle locally known as the Fire & Ice Cream Truck (see our Facebook and website at fireandicecream.com). It"s been a standard in our lives for many years, has been in news articles, photo spreads and even a documentary on original ice cream trucks, and we know the truck and business intimately. 312 451 6597
