I bought this Freightliner a few years ago from a DOT Highway patrol officer. He stated the vehicle had been lightened up by removing a rear axle so he could use it for NonCDL driving. He has a side septic company he stated. He also said the engine was a reman cummins 8.3 with a Standard 6 speed. On the way home one of the steers popped and destroyed the front fender. I bought a school bus front end and painted it from Red to all white with black as seen in the picture. We converted the crane from electric to hydraulic with a PTO we installed. Since we are a hydraulic company. I also took the seats out and put in freight liner air seats. I was building this truck to use in a heavy scrap industry with bumpy roads. I also put super headuty Trash truck tires on it that appear to be 1" thick rubber so we wouldn"t get flats. Those alone set me back several thousane. Also put a air compressor on it which is gas and a inverter with outlets on either side. Plumped a 50ft air retractable reel inside the service bed. Also put a new air compressor for the brake system and some hard to get to fuel pump that kicked my butt. Just put a brand new water pump. This truck has been great and super smooth combined with the air cab and air ride seats. Has a small bed in the sleeper I was planning on taking out. The bad, one bent leaf in the front but still usable since its been like that since we bought it. We have had zero problems not having a CDL since its under the weight required for CDL. Even got pulled over once and they informed me the officer was correct that sold it to me. Doesn"t matter he said if it has air brakes, its the weight that matters. You decide in your state what is required We also installed either a 100 gallon oil tank or 50 just don"t remember. All the mods were just recently done. I wouldn"t hesitate in driving this thing across country. We try to keep our stuff maintained but this vehicle is as is. We have had zero problems with the engine and hate to sell it but we just don""t need a crane truck this size anymore. The crane has tons of upgrades and currently works but needs some adjustments. Winch is slower than desired and spins faster than I want. Just don"t have the time to put some flow control on it. Exhausted from typing just ask if you have any questions. We have nothing to hide as is.
