1974 Oshkosh Plow Truck, Dump truck, snow plow, diesel dump.
Do you want to own the biggest, baddest truck around? Monster trucks have NOTHING on this truck.
Here is a 1940s Oshkosh Plow Truck that was sent back to the Oshkosh Factory in 1974 and completely rebuilt. As such, it was re-serial numbered as a 1974. Since then, the “new” speedometer shows only 14K on it….
The re-build consisted of:
NEW Cat 1693 Diesel Engine installed.
NEW Allison 3 speed Transmission installed.
NEW Differentials, Axles, Bearings and Seals installed.
NEW Transfer case and Drive Shafts installed.
NEW Tires installed.
ALL Hoses, Cables, Wires etc replaced.
Basically if it moves, rotates, carried any fluids or electricity, it was replaced!
Mechanically, this vehicle runs like new. The engine is not even broke-in yet. At only 14K miles on it, it’s still got 3 or 4 HUNDRED thousand miles to go…… Plow powers up/down and left/right, hydraulics work great.
Though everything was re-built mechanically, the body shows her age a little more. The cab shows a few small rust spots and the hood has some bad rust on the lower edges. Her past also included a few altercations with nefarious tree branches which lead to dents in the hood and roof. But the fenders and grill look great.
This beast of a truck can easily plow anything Mother Nature throws at it and laugh while doing it!!
A blast to drive, BUT, it’s not for the faint of heart.. Top speed is 45MPH and even with the plow hooked up, it can get up to speed damn quick! Lift rams for bed are in place and caped off, but all hyd lines were removed in 1974 since bed was never used as a dump bed.
I bought this truck with the intentions of doing a complete restoration on it. But then I found my dream engine, a12V71TT Detroit Diesel engine that I want to put in a rat rod or fire rod. So now this beast is up for sale OR trade.
I’m open to any trades of old semi trucks (i.e. needle nose petes), or old fire trucks with full cabs (i.e. International 190s, Diamond Ts, Seagraves, etc..)
Tell me what you’ve got to trade… Lets deal!
Please note: It will only come with a Bill of Sale. This truck was never titled as it spent all its life on a runway or parking lot. Was told by my local title agency that it would be easy to get an Ohio title. Don"t know about other states.
