1962 SEAGRAVE 800KB DIESEL PUMPER FIRE TRUCK
You are bidding on a 1962 Seagrave Fire Truck built 04-13-62, that has been restored over the last 1-1/2 years. It has a Detroit Diesel #238 6-71 Engine, and an Allison Model MT644 Automatic Transmission, and also has power steering. It has a single axle chassis, tube-type Super Max 10.00-20 new tires in front, and dual tube-type Goodyear Hi-Miller 10.00-20 tires in the rear. The truck has 2 new Deca 908-D 12V 1400 CCA Batteries (one on each side by the jump seats). The truck has normal hydraulic vacuum assist brakes. Although I never tried to use it, the truck has a parallel series centrifuge fire pump, with 1000 gallon water tank, which the city I purchased it from said functioned fine.
History: I purchased the truck from the City of Champaign, Illinois in 2013. They stated that it was used as a training apparatus for their Fire Exployers program. I purchased it for use in local parades, and charity functions, etc. It received first prize in 2014 in the local Old Settlers Day, and also Old Shawnee Day parades. The truck has been completely rewired, and has had every water, hydraulic, vacuum, oil, power steering, fuel, transmission, etc. hose on the truck replaced. All the seats have been reupholstered, and Horn-Blaster air horns (and air tank, compressor, tubing, etc.) were added, as well as other items listed below.
The following is a list of the other features that are all included with the fire truck:
-All maintenance records of the previous owner, as well as mine. Also wiring diagrams, schematics, and whatever other documentation I have.
-All extra parts that were included with the truck, i.e. brackets, old amplifier, etc.
-Rugged Radio intercom system (6 jacks) and wiring installed, if the buyer desired to purchase their amplifier and headsets. (Headsets and amplifier not included with this sale) This system allows the driver to talk to the Captain, and 2 jump-seat people. During parades, the jump-seat headsets can be plugged into the rear jacks on each side to enable the walkers walking along side the truck in a parade type situation to talk with the driver.
-One hose reel, hose, and nozzle as pictured, is located just behind the engine.
-New primary diesel fuel pump, fuel manifold, hoses, etc.
-3 antique hose nozzles, 1 antique fire extinguisher & bracket, 3 new fire extinguishers, 1 antique pike pole, 2 new pike poles, 2 wheel chocks.
-Tripp Lite 600 Watt power invertor in case you wanted to plug in a 110 Volt AC device.
-The generator/alternator was rewound.
-There are 16 sets of seatbelts on the truck, driver, Captain, in between them, as well as the two jump-seats, 8 on the top deck seats, and 3 on the rear bumper.
-3 breathing air tank brackets, 1 between the driver and Captain, and the other 2 for the jump-seats, although I took them off to enable the personnel to sit in the seats without the brackets touching their backs. You can also have the air tanks if you wish.
-The wooden ladder on the side is new, but it is bolted in place, and would not really be usable as a extension ladder because of its design by the manufacturer.
-Midland CB radio with connected antenna, and bracket for a VHF radio, with VHF antenna installed on roof.
-Battery selector switch mounted on dash is also new.
-All electrical components, lights, emergency lights, flashing lights, spot lights, map lights, side water control panel lights, engine compartment lights, mechanical siren, electronic siren, stobe lights, dash lights, etc. are all working fine.
-The engine hours meter shows 2295.6 hours.
-If there are any additional questions concerning the truck, please don"t hesitate to email me about them, and I will make every effort to answer them completely.
-Winning bidder must confirm winning the auction by sending a non-refundable $500.00 money order, or cashiers check within (3) days to serve as a deposit. I will accept PayPal for the deposit if you wish.
-Buyer is to take delivery of this vehicle within 7 calendar days. The remainder of the purchase balance is due before I will release the vehicle and/or any paperwork.
-Payment shall be by a Cashiers Check only that can be verified before release of the vehicle. I do not offer financing, or accept credit card payments.
-This Fire Truck is being sold As Is, and no warranty is expressed, written, or implied by me.
-Shipping is not offered by the seller. I will attempt to work with the shipper if the buyer arranges the details.
