For sale is a 2003 Freightliner factory built tri axle tractor with a 58 sleeper. Truck was ordered from factory as a tri axle and shows four axle weights on original door tag. Caterpillar is a 6NZ single turbo pre emissions and was rebuilt at 554,619 miles. Clutch seems as new and grabs at midpoint, has proper amount of free play at top and has a fully functioning clutch brake. Transmission is a Eaton Fuller Low Inertia Super 18 that shifts nicer and smoother than any transmission I have ever experienced. According to the mechanic the clutch was recently replaced and the transmission is remanufactured and appears to have been replaced recently. Truck is very tight and comfortable and goes down the road very straight and easy with no vibrations. Frame is a factory heavy single frame and unlike the double frames it is not doomed to rust apart. Overall it is in great shape for the year, but does have some surface rust on the tail end of frame from a previous set of ramps that were bolted to frame to assist trailers up onto fifth wheel.
We purchased this truck after a long nationwide search for a nice factory built tri axle with heavy single frame to haul our crane regionally. Shortly after getting truck ready to go over a year ago we sold the business and never even registered it.
Truck was totally checked out in 2014 and had a new wet system installed (used once). Truck never had a wet system prior to this installation. We have many more pictures to share (ebay limit is 24) just ask. This truck mechanically is excellent, cosmetically outside good to excellent, inside good.
In cab controls for Traction Control Differential and Inter-Axle Differential work perfectly. GVW of truck is 76,280. Steer- 13,880/ pusher- 17,000/ rears- 45,400lbs. Component tags says steer is 14,600/ rears are 46,000
Please feel free to ask questions.
