1989 Peterbilt 377 tandem axle tractor with 63 Sleeper
I bought this truck several years ago, without the engine and transmission, for a project that has taken a different direction. The truck is in excellent condition, and appears to have been well cared for all of its life.
The radiator and the driveshafts are included with the sale. Originally the truck had an 855 Cummins 400hp and a nine speed Road Ranger transmission. The Air Leaf suspension is in excellent shape, and there are ten very nice stud pilot aluminum wheels on the truck. The frame is very clean with no rust, no modifications and no damage. The fifth wheel appears to be in good shape. I am told that the steering axle had been recently serviced and both rear ends rebuilt prior to my purchase. I cannot verify that information, but the truck was driven about 400 miles here before the engine was removed. It ran, steered, stopped and drove perfectly.
The cab is in great shape. No dents or damage at all. The steps, fairings and fuel tanks are very nice. The driver"s side step could use a little TLC, although it is serviceable as is. (see photos) The hood is in very good shape with no major damage or cracks. The headlight covers are fogged up and need some TLC. (see photos) All the window glass is in good shape and operational. The doors are excellent.
No dents or scratches in the fuel tanks. The fuel tank brackets and straps are excellent.
The interior and the instrument panels are in almost perfect shape. Very clean and complete with no tears or wear showing at all. The bunk is clean and nice.
At this time, I am not interested in parting the truck out, and would like to sell it as is, in one piece. We can help you load it, or we can arrange shipping at additional cost.
The truck is located in upstate New York, close to Rochester.
Two people have asked questions:
The wheelbase is 265 measured from the center of the steer axle to the center of the tandems. I am not positive that the sleeper is 63. It may be slightly larger. 70 at most.
Someone asked: If an engine and transmission were installed, would the truck be roadworthy? To be roadworthy, the truck will need an exhaust stack, and the drive tires are pretty thin. The original stack has been removed. Otherwise, I don"t know of anything that would prevent the truck from being ready to work.
Very clean inside and out. No frame or cab modifications, no rust and no damage.
